Hi guys.
We are planning on exploring Ireland in 1 or 2 night stays away, just as and when and over a period of time. We are not looking for big city breaks, we much prefer the quite life without the hustle and bustle of city life.
What we are looking for is recommendations for places to visit and explore. Maybe even a nice hotel with a pool or spa as well. Flexible on that.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

"Might be a cliche but The Wild Atlantic Way is a great trip....especially in stages "
I second that, plenty of beautiful spots to visit.
West cork is beautiful too. Kinitty Castle in Offaly is a nice peaceful spot. Lots of nice places to stay in Wicklow. |

The old head of kinsale is nice, it has a nice organised cliff walk and also the little tourist part where the history of the lusitania is on display. Look it up and see it might be expensive but definitely a lovely spot. |

Sligo is beautiful and much underated so often quieter than the normal tourist hotspots. Wonderful mountains for walking, lots of archaeological interest, fabulous fossil hunting on the beaches near Mullaghmore and places like Lisadell House and the Yates Country. Also, the Famine Museum at Strokestown is worth a visit. |

Hi guys, proud Cork man living in Kerry. I have to say Tralee is a great base, you have good hotels, B&Bs and Airbnbs, restaurants and pubs as well access to some breathtaking landscapes.
The Iveragh peninsula is also really worth checking out. Off the beaten track and stunning.
Have fun guys.

Kerry and Dublin |
"We live in Ireland but travel abroad frequently. Just ideas needed"
Sorry, I started reading the thread and had forgotten ye said 1 or 2 night stays.
Ye would need a couple of visits to Kerry to take in the "greatest hits". A day around Killarney taking in the national park, Ross Castle, Muckross House, and Muckross Abbey. Plenty of hotels in Killarney with decent spas. You can just pay to use the spa as well if the cost to stay is too much.
One day for the ring of Kerry.
One day for Dingle & Slea head drive.
West Cork is stunning as well, but I'm not sure how much time you'd need for each place. Kinsal is a lovely town & traveling the wild Atlantic way around there is beautiful. |

For me Connemara in the West of Ireland. Renvyle House hotel is excellent and very good value. If you have a good budget, Ballynahinch Castle, near Recess on Clifden road is also excellent.

We are still getting sent suggestions privately. Thank you all. We would very much like to keep this thread active as we travel all year round with Mayo being our base. So please keep posting with your ideas and thoughts.
Are there any naturist clubs around Ireland ? We visit Eureka’s in the UK during the summer months. Also Canary Islands. It would be nice to find similar on local soil. Weather permitting of course. |

What you need to do is fly into Cork, go west, and then work your way up north from there....starting in mayo means you miss the rest of the west coast!
The South East Coast is also amazing, then skipping Dublin up to the mourn mountains on the north east.
Midlands has many beautiful spots and landscapes but all the coastal counties are spectacular in my opinion, enjoy ! |

If Mayo is your base then Galway and West Clare are the places you have to go anyway, absolutely beautiful . |

You really can’t beat the capital . Beautiful city and got the coast within few minutes with some lovely beaches and villages , howth , dalkey, Malahide , clontarf . The city is expensive but you will have the best time in Dublin . Obviously you have numerous tourist spots to take in , Guinness Tours , Kilmainham jail, croke park . Plus you’ll have slightly calmer conditions than rainy south and Wild West of Ireland |

Haven't seen it mentioned yet but our corner of the country has a lot of magical places. Ireland's Ancient East with Newgrange world heritage site, the Boyne Valley and Carlingford lough all worth an explore. |

"Ireland's Ancient East" always makes me chuckle.
As you drive west from Belcoo in Fermanagh into Blacklion in Cavan you meet a sign welcoming you to Ireland's Ancient East, roughly 20 miles as the crow flies from the Atlantic ocean.
It does have some great sites up along the Boyne though. |

"Lol! Well, what do you expect on an island where some bits of "The South" are further north than "The North""
That's part of it but the Ancient East being 20 miles away from the Atlantic is hilarious. |
