Hey all,

Can anyone tell me please, if there are any discreet places that rent rooms during the day or morning times? I'm in Cork City.

Thanks all.

Thanks for the reply. I assume you mean Jury's Inn? Is it a case of walk in and pay cash and off to your room you go, or what?

Working with hotels for my job, frankly they don’t care when you want the room…. They just want your money…. And to be able to plan if they can either a)sell the room again (not during covid) b) staff required to clean rooms, c) make sure the room is not being destroyed.

It’s all about how you engage with the hotel, as other poster stated, some hotels “allow” for day use, which means you can arrive at 9am…. Leave when you like prior to 5…. The hotel would have an “expectation” that this room may not require full housekeeping…. But as we know, once you’re in, well….. just be nice to housekeeping, they work damn hard.

Paying cash is likely going to be more of a headache, and a “walk-in” reservation paying cash will always raise the eye of the management.

Best bet, book a brand hotel, Clayton, jury’s, radisson, on wherever, etc…. On their website, if you want to meet and use the room at 7am, book the night before….arrange to collect the keys, or let them know to “advance checkin” so you can arrive early morning.

You want to start playing at 10am, tricky timing…. Then you are in the day use, and call them with the reason you need a workspace, home renos, whatever,…. You want to get the room any other time outside of that, just a standard transaction.

Good luck…. Just avoid the cash/wakin scenario… unless you want to stand at the desk for 10ams while the receptionist tries to figure out what to do, and the manager gives you a good eyeballing to try and figure out what you are up to…. Which they know all too well.

Gala or Spar but if you just Google where to buy swirl cards in your local area it should say the stores....

When you book a room the card is used to guarantee usually and it will say whether it will deduct it at that time .

Once you Check in you can usually pay anyway you want including cash

Unless you’ve booked a pay now room option

If you’ve only used the card to guarantee the booking , it will not show up in your statement

Day use almost never deducts the money at time of booking

There's no issue at all paying cash with Dayuse. They don't take payment when you book online, you pay by whatever method you choose when you check in. You can also cancel FOC anytime right up to the point of arrival

Dayuse… just checked it out for the first time… definitely the solution to your situation for booking a room with clear specifics about arrival/departure times….

And agreed with all others…. Revolut doesn’t issue a statement, but will require some hoops, and you can hide transactions…

glad you’re getting closer to that daytime escape!

Yes Dayuse or Dayrooms (sometimes offers different hotels than Dayuse)

Never found cash an issue ………

Just bring the correct amount and only problem could be if they have to look for change for you.

Make sure that the keycard is for the day ie you don’t want to have it void at 12 noon and be locked outside if you come down for coffee or lunch - it happens but they can override the 12 noon at reception by asking when checking in

Its been a while but same with paying cash. Its still legal tender, apart from in the aviva

I used to use bonking.com (see what i did there??) And always paid cash on arrival.

Dayuse was the same
