Morning all. Woke up this morning to an awful shock. Got my car insurance renewal documents and my quote has gone up nearly €100 since last year to just over €600. To say I was shocked is an understatement. My car is relatively new(20)and I don’t live in Dublin. Has anyone else had this? Worked all through lockdown as I’m in healthcare and to be hit like this is crap. Needless to say I’ll not be renewing.

somewhere

The way to save is to not renew...they expect a certain percentage of customers to never switch so they can make an extra few Euro

The exact same as electricity and gas...switch as often as possible or use the switch price to bargain down your existing supplier

Price around every company. I've commercial insurance and car insurance and my renewal was going up €300 quid. I changed to liberty and got the insurance down from €850 on a 1.6 diesel Peugeot 308 to €650 on a 2.0 petrol Saab convertable.

Also check out the discounts. Online discount, stick someone in your house as name drive etc.

Best of luck with it.

Insurance companies totally dismiss any form of loyalty. I was with AA for years and I got insured with 123. Ie. €200 cheaper

Yeah I’ve priced around a bit and it’s definitely cheaper. My car is a 202 1.5 diesel. Have a parent on the policy too so it should bring it down a bit. I just think it’s totally mad that they think they can rip everyone off

As a tip I always write down the cost of the insurance on the back of the insurance disk, that way when your renewal comes in the post you will know straight away if its gone up or down. Your defo better of moving if you can find it cheaper elsewhere. My only issue with the likes of chill insurance is it takes an hour to get through to them on the phone if you need to amend anything on the policy, their online form is awful, still it's worth it though for the price saving

I suppose the point being that insurance is going up and in my opinion they must pull these figures out of the air.

Insurance is insane. I was quoted 3000 by most but got 1850 from liberty.

Jaysus thats crazy. Mine went down 100 to just over 600 last month. Some people still getting quoted 3000 is nuts.
