"Guns n Roses for me, though I don't know if I'd consider them an 80s act, as they released material in the 1990s & 00s (albeit sporadically) and have been touring since 2017 or so." They originated in the 80's though.

"Best Band / Artists of the 80s .. you can only choose one. Post it below " Just the one?! That's wayyyy too tough to choose. There's so many. My 80s were made by the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna and Queen but I wasn't much of a music head really, more so in recent years. I listen to so much stuff and would never be able to tell you the name of the song or artist

Some absolute classics you've given " Yes, I suppose they would be the classics, not necessarily my favourites now but they were what I listened to or was influenced more heavily at the time. It is difficult to choose, especially if not given a genre either. And some artists span across more than one decade with their classic hits. The first songs I clearly remember listening to as a primary school child in the 80s are Queen "We will rock you" and "We are the Champions" but they're 70s songs.

Frankie goes to Hollywood. Huey Lewis and the News. Jennifer Rush. Just a little bit of trivia for you folk's.

"The smiths My choice also. Mrs And mine Worked at 2 of their gigs in The SFX in the 80's Big bunches of flowers flying everywhere Ah the gladioli. I know Morrissey is like marmite but I love him. There's a brilliant cover band called "These Charming Men". They bring the gladioli to their concerts, almost like being at the real thing, they're so good " They're unreal!! Rarely miss one of their gigs.. Closest thing to the real deal! Huge Morrissey fan but prefer The Smiths albums

"Thanks for the lovely memories.. I love every band mentioned.. A few bands I particularly liked was Bronski Beat. Jimmy sommerfield who then went onto sing with the communards.. Also loved Level 42 and ABC " Saw Jimi at the forever young festival, he is still excellent live and due to return for the same festival this year. ABC who are brilliant are also due to play the rock festival in Fairyhouse next year along with adam and the ants, Tony Hadley, hue and cry plus more

Don't Leave me this way was his best I think.... but don't miss out on the earlier version by Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes which is pure sex.

"Agree with all…. Such an eclectic mix in the 80’s which doesn’t seem to be the case so much nowadays. The fall out and mix of 60’s rock, 70’s punk, Eurovision, ska, reggae…. Put it all in the mix and the 80’s was the best. Few more to the mix, surprisingly no one mentions the Waterboys or That Petrol Emotion. " I was hoping for 'choosing an 80's artist is a lot like.....'

"It's very difficult to name just one 80s band. I like almost all of those mentioned. Special mention to the Beat and the ska bands in particular. I loved the fashion also. Even though in hindsight it looks pretty hideous E" Wash your mouth out !! Fred Perrys, harringtons and DMs will never go out of fashion …,,,
