Taking part in a running event at the weekend, know of a few cpls that enjoy running and swinging different events but has been on the same day lol.

So wanted to ask everyone to give there vote as to the popularity amongst the community.

But do you think running or cycle or sea swimming?

wherever

Not sure what question is, but for me cycling makes my running better, but running a lot does not improve my cycling as for sea swimming not for me, what about adventure races

Dublin South

Cycling for me, less attritional on the knees etc than running, less injuries and physio appointments, excellent for fitness, nothing like an early morning in the mountains, just you, the birds, the breeze, the whirring of the bike and a consciousness of the seasons changing. It also gives you head space so very therapeutic too. Ive been doing ti for a few years now and have never looked back

Cycling or swimming for me. I could never warm to running and my knees never liked it either.

Before in retired from playing we were training 3 times a week and I hated the long runs at pre season training and hated the running. Lost fitness after I stopped playing and 4-5 years ago decided to do something about it so took up running which I actually ended up enjoying a lot more. I set my own pace and my own distances, headphones on and away you go. Stick with it at the start and it does get easier. I do enjoy cycling but in a different way. Don’t sea swim regularly which is strange as I used to years ago and all enjoy it when I do. I think it’s about finding something that suits you and your goals. Also worth trying Pilates or yoga, great for core strength and flexibility

Cycling for us both. Our knees can't take running

But it's mountain biking we do sometimes so hard on the body also.

I do all 3. Running on grass, though. I don't know why anyone would run on a footpath or tarmac. I run to get the endorphins up.

I cycle to the sea (36k round trip) so that I can go sea swimming. I prefer to swim nude so I go to White Rock near Killiney.

Cycling for me, I do quite a bit of it. I could never enjoy running and as I can't swim it might be best to stay back from the sea!

Started to notice the impact on my joints when I run so I’d be into cycling now.

However I don’t buy into the full body Lycra stuff

I know a few people who started sea swimming because the pools were closed for most of 2020.

I'm new enough to it and love it

Not a major fan of this time of year... Too many jellies and prefer the rush of hitting the cold water

Cycling for me use to do stupid kms 375km in a day cork to mullingar

But took up running 2 years ago it’s easy to head out for 5 or 6km and be done In half an hour the bike ya would have to be out for 2 hours for it to be any benefit to you

Well my thought any way

Ask To Find Out

Cycling all day, my body is broken after a 5km run and I would need a weekend to recover but I can recover from a 75/100km cycle in the morning and be ready for anything at night.

Fully correct. Takes hours on a bike to get a burn but jogging running happens very quickly, my hip is gone but I really miss jogging, it’s when I was happiest

Well my thought any way "

Gave jogging a go a few years ago and got into it, v handy to pop out for 5k.

However the body couldnt deal with road running so has to pack it in.

Cyecle for a solod hour a few mornings a week now and its been a lockdown saver.... not sure its as good as swimming but i dont have that option

I wish I had more time to swim in the sea!

This is kinda off topic

Read an article ages back about a woman struggling with depression, was in therapy and on meds for years and years with little change, a therapist recommended to swim in the sea every morning. She did and still does. Shes No longer on medication and happier than ever apparently, so goes to show what being active in the natural world can do for our mental and physical health
