Hate country music nearly as bad as rap music
But having said that I actually like listening to the greatest hits of Garth Brooks ....and 400,000 people did buy tickets to his cancelled croke park gigs |

I love metal, rock dance you name it, I've been to countless metal/rock gigs, I always fall back on American country, but that's your opinion, I respect it. |

"Dolly Parton or Johnny cash's music yes... Nathan carter's 'music' hell no!
Ah yeah I think everyone loves a bit of Dolly Parton but she's in a class of her own in fairness "
To be fair, she's in a class of her own as a person in general. |

I enjoy some of it like the sub genre of Bluegrass and outlaw country. I really enjoy the spirituals and the blues.
Irish country music doesn't make me feel anything except for despair. |

Extremely literal videos. If the song is about a love struck lady in a house.....the video will be of the singer walking around a two storey, 4 bedroom house.......somewhere in West Meath |

I particularly Love both American and Irish Country Music. I also love most other types as we depending on my mood.
I often tune into KTNK radio in California as it’s a very good Honky Tonk station. |

Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard were great buddies and if you get a chance look at their recording of ‘It’s all going to pot’ on YouTube. Looking like they smoking pot and having a ball. Also Willie’s wearing a top with the words Irish Pub on it.
Wrote his first song at age seven. Joined his first band at age ten. Has released 71 studio albums .... the latest was earlier this year at the age of 88 .... what a rebel and what a legend. |

RAP isn't music, surely it can't be classed as music, instruments required at a minimum. It's just dribbling over a microphone, awful awful stuff. |

Depends what you define as country. Some modern takes are widely commercial eg. early Kings of Leon.. I'm a big fan of Ryan Adams and Nathaniel Ratliffe and I'm pretty sure they fall under the same...
Like what ya like, own it and enjoy OP |

Nathaniel Rateliffe is defo not country. Live, he is amazing.
Irish country! I'd rather have a good dump. It's the equivalent of kids nursery rhyme.

I like the nursery rhyme analogy, very true in many cases. They both have boring monotonous rhythms attached |

OP I don't know what you mean by Country music. There are whole genres that fall under that. A few years ago I would have said I hated it but there's some that has been the greatest musical influence in my life since then. Check out Towns Van Zandt, Guy Clarke and John Prime. I suspect you're a muso!? |

"Willy Nelson and Nils Lofgren (Springsteen's guitarist) do a fantastic duet called 'in your hands'. If you prefer Irish country then I'm sorry, there's no hope for you lol."
LOVE LOVE LOVE Willy Nelson. Such a beautiful unique and unmistakable voice. I was lucky enough to see him up close about 10 or 11 years ago. Absolutely in a league of his own! |

Depends what you mean by country. I wouldnt include Daniel O'Donnell or any of that northern / border county muck in the category. I could suggest Iris De Ment as a good place to start, or to an extent Kate and Anna McGarrigle, although the latter are more folk. EmmyLou Harris' album, Red Dirt Girl, is great even if you dont like country. For me you have to be American, its their music, the rest are just imitators. |

Read back what I said! Irish country music is for simple folk and NOT country folk are simple. Completely different. |

The TV show Archer released a surprisingly descent Country album a few years back called Cherlene, accompanying the 5th season.
I expected it to be a comedy album, but its not, it's just a stand alone amazing Country album. |
