Swing Community Rally

S'up fellow Sex Fiends?!

So I've just posted on two other threads, one regarding the Vanilla Club delaying their reopening due to Covid-19 restrictions and another where I referred to this site and our fellow Irish swingsters as a community.

Which I firmly believe we are.

Like any community we've had our ups and downs, we've changed, grown and evolved. We have friends, acquaintences and people we wouldn't touch with a barge pole. Our community has grown and shrunk, but it has always prevailed.

Covid, of course, has been a particularly challenging time for us all. Divisions and differing attitudes have never been so prevalent and obvious before.

However, it would seem that FINALLY, we are on the cusp of emerging from this long and dreary 18 months or so.

(I, personally, have not had sex nor so much as kissed another human being since fucking December. I haven't done that since I was born.)

Thinking along those community lines and specifically thinking of that well known fulcrum point of the Irish swing scene, The Vanilla Club, I have a modest proposal.

Whichever date the Vanilla Club picks for it's reopening, how about we absolutely fucking jam pack the place?!

Much like Tesco did a rather selfless thing recently and took out an add imploring people to eschew it's off licences and go to the pub instead, seeing as how the pubs needed support, I'd like to ask how would people feel the same with regard to the Vanilla Club upon it's reopening?

Maybe DON'T hold that private party in your house that night....

Maybe DON'T put a status up looking for another couple to join you for drinks in the city centre...

Maybe DON'T hit the city centre and browse the "Who's Near"...

For Vanilla's grand reopening, maybe we could ALL just meet there instead (Vanilla's capacity providing for same of course )

Be a nice way to say hello to one another again, to see old friends, make some new ones and support two of the finest, most consistently positive swingers we know!

What ya's think?

I suspect that the opening will be restricted numbers and that it will easily sell out.

"I suspect that the opening will be restricted numbers and that it will easily sell out."

Aye, I had thought of perhaps putting in a proviso that it was likely to sell out nonetheless!

But hey, if it does it does and all the better!

I can't speak for anyone else of course, but I'd certainly be happy to pay a little bit more with regard to entry...

Would this be feasible ya think?

You're proposal seems to be suggesting that we put more than normal numbers of people into a club, but in reality we are probably looking at having to have less than normal numbers there. And paying more? I'm not sure really. Perhaps holding an event outdoors would be a better idea.

That's not what I'm proposing at all.

And I'm sure the club will manage its numbers responsibly. They don't need me to suggest or propose how to do that.

But hey, knock yourself out looking for negativity in the post!

Um. Well. If you're not going and don't want to go... Maybe, just, don't go?

You can stay at home if you like... I dunno dude, I'm not the boss of you.

South Side.

I think its a great idea. It might need some creativity to manage the numbers, indoor, outdoor? , even cam the event, or have a cam facility for those who won't be there? . I've never been there,... There will be naysayers, but we need optimism, and creative ways to run business these days. Hope you get that long awaited kiss OP..

I'm so confused. Your suggestion seems to be "let's go to vanilla"... when vanilla is likely to be having a restricted numbers opening event that is gonna be sold out anyway.

What is different about your idea that wasn't going to happen anyway?

There's no need for your confusion. My post was an attempt to drum up support for the Vanilla Club upon it's eventual reopening, seeing as the club and it's organisers have sacrificed a great deal to keep it up and running...

As you say it IS likely to be sold out and I sincerely hope that it is, upon reopening and for many other nights, so maybe my post is slightly redundant, but no more redundant than taking the time out of your own day to point out that same redundancy and to confess your confusion.

Thank you for the input nonetheless.

If organisations want regular and guaranteed sources of income then paid membership is one common solution.

Obviously, in this context that also presents plenty of potential problems and issues and the clubs themselves would need for work out of solutions to those problems are workable and feasible.

It's an invite only event so you can't just rock up and pack it out... Numbers are restricted to the venue's capacity... I don't think the organisers have ever had an issue with filling their guest list... and I hear that it's already fully booked for all three reopening nights.

As for an increased price, that's up to the organisers surely, but certainly folks would pay.

I assume what you’re getting at is the hope that people who like going to clubs, make a little extra effort to support the clubs when they reopen. I can’t see any club having a problem filling their guest lists after all this time.

I’m sure the delay is very frustrating for the owners and hosts but hopefully once things get going, it’s not just for a few weeks again.
