Meditation lying down will do the trick. Try Sam Harris. Ironically his app is called waking up. I think he was the humour in that. Then try it another day alert sitting up and it's life changing |

Try youtube 8 hour videos of calming isochronic tones or my personal favourite soft brown noise.. Listen with ear buds for full effect.. Will knock you out in no time |

Read and apply the techniques advocated in sites about sleep hygiene; blackout blinds; light, noise, coffee consumption, TV, etc.
Implement as many as possible, and in six months situation should improve.
Most people nowadays are sleep deprived through mismanagement of their sleeping environments, especially too much light. |

I use a technique that I heard, I think it’s firm the military but basically it’s about making sure you are as comfortable as possible and then ensuring every muscle is relaxed and then you should fall asleep |
