There is an Irish expression, which used to be common, but seems to be disappearing from common useage: the 'me feiner'.
What do you find (un)attractive about this type of person, and would you be inclined to meet a 'me feiner'?
For those who are unfamiliar with this expression, it describes an individual who is self-absorbed, self-interested, and who has no qualms about letting others know that this is their style of operation.
Have you ever met one, have you dated one, or were you formerly in a relationship with one?
No names, of course!

My experience with self absorbed people are that they are always the first to see these traits in others and highlight them while dismissing their own similar behaviour.
They like to talk down to people rather than as equals and feel the need to explain their every comment to lesser mortals. |

There are some who play their cards very close to their chest, and it can take a considerable period of time to fully realise what one is dealing with; they use guile and cunning to create an illusion of equality, but the subtext is self-interest.
In one instance I played along for fifteen years until the individual revealed the true nature of their personality: pure vindictiveness. It was fifteen years at the university of life! |

If thats someone's personality so be it. If they are interesting enough to pull it off I would possibly still meet them.
People who give the impression of being interested in others but only have their own self interest in mind all the time are much worse in my experience |
