It's surprising to find folks up at this hour; I've just woken to water my new berry plants (Boysenberries from the USA and Tayberries from Scotland) before settling down to listen to Tony Blackburn's Sounds of the Sixties from 6-8 on BBC Radio 2.
You'll never find Boysenberries or Tayberries for sale (to eat) but the taste of Tay is amazing.
I've grown Tay before, but not Boysen, which were accidentally discovered on an abandoned farm; they are a cross between blackberries, raspberries and an exceptionally rare variety called Dewberry.
My previous plants were accidentally sprayed and killed, not by me of course.
My gardens, where I grow unusual fruiting plants are a refuge from the stresses of working life.
