Was chatted up by a really annoying toad on a night out who eventually used the line 'don't you know who I am?'
After I told him I didn't and he could go fuck himself cos I wasn't going to, the barman told me he was a premiership footballer

In work most A list celebrities and Irish billionaires that have gone to gigs here
Mostly polite and just normal except very famous
The only ones I've ever been starstruck with
Steven Spielberg was with Daniel Day Lewis at a Brice Springsteen gig
I looked after them and their security and brought them in and afterwards backstage
The Pope...who offered me a blessing but I said no thanks
To stand beside him and see the crowd react to him was incredible

Back in the mid 90's I was away in Spain working
You had to fly via Heathrow at the time no direct flight to Dublin from Malaga
Easy jet to London was delayed taking off as someone was late getting on
It turned out to be Martine Mc Cutcheon also know as Tiffany from Eastenders
She sat beside me and ordered drinks to apologise for delaying the flight for the row around us ...she was lovely |

Brian Clough appeared on the Parkinson show along with Frank Sinatra.
Some time later he heard Sinatra playing in the background when he was with Martin O'Neill and he said to Martin " That Francis Albert Sinatra, he's met me !" |

I also met Stephen Fry at our village fete in Norfolk - he lived just up the road. And I met Gennaro Contaldo, who also lived locally in Norfolk, at a car boot sale.
Being not far from Sandringham, William & Kate were regulars at our local Waitrose and Prince George went to the local Montessori nursery school with many of many friends younger children |

Had a drink with Tom Baker in the Europa years ago.
Made small talk with Jenson Button at a Heathrow Dixons, didn't know who he was when I was talking to him. The staff reaction when he left the store made me ask who it was. |

Never met him but friends were on hols in Italy about 10 years ago and met Denzel Washington in a restaurant with his family.
He made a point of coming over to chat to them and invited their kids to his villa the next day and sent a car to pick them up and leave them back.
Apparently one of the nicest people ever. |

I have seen plenty of fair city actors, I don't watch fair city but.
I can recognise them because they act very conspicuous and then get sort of riled up cause they think they have 'been made' by me.... such arseholes. Also Nicky Byrne and the ugly comedian (kevin whatever) from savage eye falls into this category.
I have also tons of real celebs who are class acts who smile politely and nod if I copped them. I have never stopped to talk to any celebs |

Waiting on someone in Dublin airport the day after Matt Busby's funeral and saw Eamon Dunphy and Gerry Kelly from UTV.
I was sitting beside a woman and her elderly dad and she told me they were waiting on her brother Robert. He was on the same flight as Dunphy etc and Robert was Bob Geldof. |

Through my work running many major Events/Shows & Exhibitions all around Uk & Ireland I have met many famous people and in all honesty have found most of them ok to work and talk with although there are some exceptions.
I have also been very very fortunate to have had some fun with a few... |

Met quite a few footballers, but the obvious winner is that I
Played 5 mins of footi with Maradona while at a competition in Napoli back in the day.
Played on same team as Justin Fashanu twice.
Used to drink with Don Baker and the headbanger that is Brush Shiels (well we drank he's a pioneer)
And a clatter of othe musicians that used to frequent the old westland row studios

Year's ago on a visit to see some friends in New York I was in Planet Hollywood been shown around the VIP areas when I ran into Bruce Willis in the private cinema. He introduced himself and asked where I was from and when I said Ireland he asked me if I would like to join him in having a drink. Spent about an hour shooting the breeze with him and he invited me back the next night for dinner and drinks on him. Only found out after he left the he was a Co owner of the place and when I went back in the next night we got the full VIP treatment, had a brilliant night and he was such a down to earth guy with no BS. He even asked my friend a few weeks later if I enjoyed my night on him |

I was introduced to Smoky Joe Frazer, a legendary boxer, on St Patrick’s day in Madison Square Garden. I met the great Martin McGuinness at the same event. Two amazing men in their own rights. Both gone from earth now too.
Got taken on stage with the Chilli Peppers in the SFX donkeys years ago. That was a mad buzz.
I’ve met most of our presidents since PJ Hillery as well. The first Mary was more impressive than the second. |

Ahh depends on peoples idea of famous, i feel strange when using the term but here goes:
As a 16 year old did an mtv interview with russel brand at creamfields ireland in the summer before 9/11
Gerry Adams a cupla times as a teen
Drank with gerry conlon of the Guildford 4 in Glasgow. Was friendly with paddy Hill of the Birmingham 6 too in Glasgow.
Different leading Scottish politicians that u guys wouldn't have heard of. One had been a frequenter of swingers clubs in Manchester lol but that's not how I met him.
Drank with the world champ boxer Ricky Hatton in Belfast and England.
Drank and snorted with Larry love of the band alabama 3 (ye's would know their song woke up this morning as it was the theme tune to the sopranos)
Eh Robbie Williams the singer, most of the celtic footy team of 2004/05, and sure there's others but that's a fair enuf list |

"Ever met a famous individual going about your daily doings? hung about with Coner mc Gregor at one or 2 party’s but that was before he was famous he was in strike force
Met him once since in raider small chat and he was in the ufc then
Utter scumbag. Amazing talent but total scumentitled to your opinion I won’t ask on here why you feel like that
In fairness you don't need to ask why, he shows it himself the way he carries on."

"Met quite a few footballers, but the obvious winner is that I
Played 5 mins of footi with Maradona while at a competition in Napoli back in the day.
Played on same team as Justin Fashanu twice.
Used to drink with Don Baker and the headbanger that is Brush Shiels (well we drank he's a pioneer)
And a clatter of othe musicians that used to frequent the old westland row studios
"
Thread winner by a country mile!!!! Greatest player ever to grace a football pitch (Maradona not you ) |

Used to work in a large TV company in London.
There were few I didn't see/meet as they all came to staff bar in main building.
Green rooms were available with free drink but most knew best craic was in staff bar.
Great fun and lots of nice people mostly, only the odd wanker. |

"Had a pint with Anthony Hopkins and Richard Attenborough in Spain. Also had a pint with Daniel Day Lewis before the Springsteen gig in Kilkenny "
This wins for me ....imagine Anthony Hopkins ordering you a pint... or a nice Chianti |

I met Anna Friel and Rhys Ifans in the pub I worked in years ago.
One of the lads started chatting to Anna Friel and said, I loved you in Notting Hill....I started laughing at him before she said "that's was Julia Roberts" hilarious
Rhys was off his face on God knows what, ha |

During my life I have probably met dozens of famous people, in different fields; and I have also met some exceptionally famous people world famous in fact, and had conversations with them.
I had two very long conversations with Jimmy Savile in 1994; in all honesty he was confident, articulate, but evasive and a little bit creepy. He was a loner.
The princiap lesson is that famous people are just products of mass media; they're generally just like you and me, but exposure on television, on radio or in the print media has made them instantly recognisible.
At this stage of my life, I am delighted that I am not famous; I can go about my daily routine completely unhindered and totally anonymously.
