So I’m getting increasing amounts of messages the last few weeks saying they are meeting now because they are vaxed.

While I’m not commenting on what’s right or wrong, what would make you believe if someone really was vaxed? Would you ask to see their vax card or take their word for it? Would it make a difference?

If they casually said they felt more comfortable meeting now that they were vaccinated then I probably would believe them. If they were using it as their USP then no I wouldn't believe them.

"It only safer for the person whos vaxed. "

Exactly! My understanding is that they could still be carriers but not have any symptoms so they wouldn't even know. So they are actually more of a risk if you are not vaccinated yourself.

I think someone saying they were vaccinated is something I'd take with a grain of salt. Obviously depending on line of work or how well I know them would make my mind up as to whether it's not just another line here.

Being vaccinated only protects themselves from becoming overly sick and will not stop the transmission of the virus.

If someone is using as a reason why I should meet them then no I wouldn't believe them . I've had several claim recently that they are vaccinated and then admit when asked anything about it that they haven't been. So no I take most messages like that with a grain of salt. If it's someone I already know then I'm more likely to believe them that they have had it.

Agree with you there.

As we're now vaccinating all over 40s at this stage, we'd be less likely to be disbelieving of anyone of this age group and above.

As an aside, although it is very early days, there is increasing evidence that vaccination may have an impact on transmission

I am vaxed and from the information we where giving when we got it was that its not going to stop us getting it however will lessen or stop the symptoms, it does not stop us spreading it either, however, there is a lesser chance of contracting the virus or spreading it. However it is not impossible.

This is per the Pfizer one.

In my opinion if your meeting somebody who's vaccinated you are at less of a risk of contracting the virus from that person yet there is still a risk.

Yeah I think that’s it. Only if I’ve been already chatting with them would I believe them that they are vaxed.

With regard to the safety of it, now that I’m fully vaxed I personally feel safer but I’m not gonna believe someone else.

I chatted with a guy off here who swore blind that because he was a Dr, it meant he could go bareback too as he’s tested more. I’m still LOLING at that one. Dope

I see fully vaxed people are exempt from mandatory hotel quarantine. Obviously more evidence that the carrying and spreading risk is very small once fully vaxed.

What a bizarre thing to say. Surely everyone on here is at risk of catching everything, especially if they are not careful. This thread is about the vax against Covid. Why bring HIV/AIDS into it?

Seeing as you have been able to catch to catch HPV forever and it never stopped swingers, why are you rolling your eyes now?. HPV isn’t new... it’s only vax preventable in the last what 15yrs at which point 80% of the population already have it. So what gives?

I haven't even met friends for more than a socially distanced coffee in the past year as I've keeping an eye on my elderly parents and doing any errands needed until they are vaccinated, which they are now. So now for me it depends on how diligent the other person is or has been and their personal situation.

The simple difference between an sti and covid is that unless something is seriously amiss your only risking your own health in relation to sti's whereas covid could easily be passed to more vulnerable family and friends..saying all that someone else being vaccinated makes.no difference

Personally no, but this is a poor comparison.

First of all, yes I (and many others) did and do ask partners when their last STI test was. Secondly, I can protect myself from STIs by using a condom regardless of whether someone else has one or not. Also STIs aren't deadly, and very very few are even likely to make you seriously ill, unlike Covid.

Unfortunately our STI clinic doesn't even give out results on paper. At some point you have to either accept some level of risk, or accept that you aren't going to get to do things you want to do. Life is all about making balanced risk/reward decisions. We make them every day. Different folks will draw the line in different places. Some will be lucky and some won't. Some will be more risk averse than others. Some of them will be grand, others won't. That's the way it goes.

As I outlined above.. It's just another risk/reward decision and everyone needs to decide what they are persoanally happy with. Some young healthy person who lives alone might trust that the vaccine they've had provides protection for them and they are happy with the low level of risk from having sex. Others might not. Same as others are happy to take risks that could result in HIV etc etc.

Sorry I kind of rushed my reply I should wait until I have more time.

Look at this stage if someone wants to have a meet im not grabbing my pitch fork.

I wanted to get at more, and this is from my observations on fab, some people don't seem to fully grasp that once vaccinated they can still be spreaders...

So in that I dont think its great comparison as your still a higher risk to other than if you contracted HIV

To be fair I would have agreed with you until recently when I think it's been shown that fully vaccinated people have a very low risk of transmitting. Maybe someone can correct me if that's not the case.

2 fully vaccinated people having sex, have a very very very low risk of either of them transmitting to the other, who goes on to infect someone else. The virus going through 2 vaccinated peoole to a 3rd party that is.

That's not to say there is zero risk, its just tips the risk/reward balance is all.
