I just remembered an old favourite Dublin expression that makes me smile - 'does be'.
eg: Food does be on my mind a lot.
Also the phrase 'do be doing' love it!!

I checked with The Ma OP. She's says Game Ball to nearly all of the above Dublin Twang words. She says to say to you all "well done youngwans"
Except "Shiver me Timbers". She says it might be something the country folk say or something from before her time. She also said "fecking Vikings" under her breath. I think she got mixed up with Pirates.
But all the rest are...and I quote.."Deadly Buzz"

I love reading all of these.....
I lived in Norway from 2003-14 and grew to miss the Dublin and Irish way with words more and more and more.
And a few I ended up inadvertently passing on.
The generic term for any person was my favourite..
"Here.....head the ball....yeah, you"
Brilliant...
And when I started overhearing people I worked with speaking Norwegian to one another and noticing that they were saying 'Deadly'...without noticing themselves.
Everyone was saying it after a while.
And nearly everyone at some point asked me why I said 'Your man' for a bloke or 'Your one' for a girl.
I never even noticed. |

I'd say that's fairly general alright. |
