Can't see them opening this side of September.
For swimming you could go sea swimming.
For your back, have you tried handing off a pull up bar to decompress the spine? |

If you’re scared to take pics after a few months of not being in the gym it might be a good time to re-examine your relationship with your body. If all that comes of this shitshow is a few extra pounds you’re doing well |

Haha, I responded at the same time as you... but it was said sarcastically, I’m not scared to at all...! The relationship with my body isn’t why it’s been the most impactful part, without sounding cheesy, the gym is my therapy, it’s where I go to be with just me and it’s the mental impact that I’m missing most |

"Fair enough but you can do most of the things you do in a gym at home, albeit with some investment in equipment right?"
I would guess a lot of people enjoy the buzz of the gym and being around others. It's not really the same working out alone in your sitting room.
I personally am not a 'gym' person but I miss the pool a lot too.

I'm going to jump in here. Yes at a cost you can do your workouts at home. You can run, join yoga etc. For alot including myself this is a loss we're struggling with. The group environment of training is integral, the benefits to mental heath is huge. Like many dealing with this shitshow there's plenty to be sad about. Saying out loud I miss my gym and my routine is ok. Its ok for everyone to have their own feelings, sense of loss without judgement. Remember its the same storm but we're in different boats. Don't make others feel guilty for what they miss. |

Yes and no! Depends what you do in the gym. We could go down a rabbit hole with the ins and outs of it. The “Push” exercises are fine, but it’s really hard to replicate the “pull” exercises without some expensive gear and that makes up half of the work I do and for some people its even more!! But for many programmes (cardio, fat burning etc) yeah home workouts are just as effective! |

You’re entitled to miss what you miss but saying that gyms being closed is the hardest part of lockdown is a bit much. I also struggle with people backtracking to the mental health stance after initially making it about their body image.
I too hope gyms will be open soon purely because my housemate doing Zumba every single evening in the sitting room is driving me bonkers |

Pull sessions are half your workouts?? U not work your legs...just your chest, shoulders, arms and back....sounds like an odd quote that tbh..
Do back workouts(pull) all u need is a pullup bar,a barbell, weights for it and if you have dumbells or k/bells as well as bands then you can do a serious blood and guts workout without machines thats for sure..nyes its bare bones...but it works! |

No it doesnt...what your refering to is antagonist training....opposite muscle groups...like back and chest.....triceps and biceps..
You cant pull with your chest...nor can you push with your back....but working antagonist groupsets will give you a great pump with minimal rest periods between exercises BECAUSE your working OPPOSITE forces(push/pull)and different muscle groups that are very near to eachother hence a good flow of nutrients into the muscles already flowing to nearer groupsets....thats push/pull
