I spent a week in Mykonos. It was great!
Lots of life, good bars and great food. Lots of activities and plenty to see regardless of age. Hope that helps |

Thanks very much, we'll look up there, so many different islands and resorts it's mind boggling and probably very different depending on what part of greece you choose |

Looking at doing that myself.
Have been to most the Greek Islands and love it. Worst experience was in Rhodes....just chose the wrong village. |

"I loved corfu. Stunning beaches.
Pelekas was iconic once.. "
Yes it was. We stayed the other side of the island in ipsos and hired a car so found a lot of smaller beaches. One more beautiful than the other. I keep saying I should go back as it has been a few years. |

"We have booked Corfu for the autumn, never been anywhere in Greece, just wanting to try something new, something different to our usual holiday haunts. "
Beware if driving. The roads are in rag order on Corfu |

You might try the small island of Hydra, where Leonard Cohen lived for many years, which is close to the port of Piraeus that is easily reached from Athens.
Hydra isn't a beach destination and the only town and port has lots of good bars and restaurants. |

I’ve had a couple of incredible holidays in Kefalonia. The beaches are absolutely phenomenal and the restaurants are very traditional and top quality. Also the island is small enough that you can travel from one side to the other easily enough and it’s absolutely steeped in history. |

I flew to Thessaloniki rented a car and drove all the way down to Athens ( 1 week ). I was impressed in Meteora temples and not expensive food and staying at all.
If you need extra information text me. |

Rhodes, crete, corfu, zante, mykonos, santorini are the only islands British people ever talk about...
There are 6000 islands in greece, 220 easily accessible, well cheaper than the popular ones and many of them absolute gems!
Also, there are so many places on the mainland that they're surrounded by beautiful coasts and breathtaking sightseeing, tasty food and friendly people in half the cost of a popular island..
My advise to all my British friends is always: avoid the popular British destinations!
You're welcome.. |

One Greek destination that I hope to visit before I pop my clogs, but not any time soon, is the isolated peninsula of Mount Athos, that can only be reached by boat.
Very isolated: full of amazing monasteries that were built over the last one thousand years.
But no females are ever allowed to visit!
Some excellent videos online about Mount Athos.
