Just started back giving blood after a long hiatus & wondering how people on here deal with the questions relating to mm sex and sex with male who has had mm sex in the past?
It’s been over a year since I’ve played with anyone other than my hub & I have had a clear STI test since so I answered that I never had.
Should I have fessed up? |

Personally I think the rules around men who have sex with men giving blood are archaic and homophobic, and shouldn't stop anyone from donating blood. |

Sounds like you had nothing to fess up too.
The MM questions ask if you've done it in the past 12 months, so you should have been fine.
But they are pretty stupid rules regardless. |

Aren’t they just draconian? I was surprised to see it still there!

But if a regular swinger & a regular doner, what to do? |

My partner has a medical condition where he actually has to give blood regularly.
But we are also looking into him experimenting with men.
Leaves us asking "what counts as sex?" to the blood donation clinic. |

Giving blood is a great way of getting tested as well. |

Personally, I think that rule was probably necessary during the 80s when there was an AIDS epidemic ripping through the gay community. But that's simply not the case anymore, so I would just ignore it and use me own judgment.
Just to point out logically how it makes no sense...
A man and woman have sex. Later that day, the man is allowed to donate because it was over a year since he had MM sex. But the woman must wait a year, because she just slept with a man who HAS EVER had MM sex. Stupid. |

There are no "stupid" questions in questionnaire, and one has to consider implications a false info from a donor can cause. Dont forget potential recepients could be foetuses/neonates and seriously ill patients. |

I don’t think it would lead to them not using your blood. It just enables healthcare depts to better identify transmissible blood diseases by community e.g those that swing, bisexuals, certain ethnicities even and to target and treat them. |
