Half of your money goes on the horse to win and the other half goes on it to finish first, second and possibly all the way up to seventh depending on how many runners there is. The place part is a quarter or fifth of the odds |

If you stake for example €1e/w the total bet will cost you €2.
Essentially two bets €1 to win and €1 to place (places paid depends on my ber of runners and bookie promotion on certain races)
e.g. Sizing Pottsie will pay 1/5 of the odds e/w on the first 6 finishers with Paddy Power today. Currently 28-1
A win will return €28 and also 1/5 of €28 plus what you stake.
An e/w double works the same but winnings rolls onto the second horse in the bet.
Oh and for clarity, Bookies love double trebles and other accumulators because they win above 99% of bets staked.
So bet small and for fun

Jaysus I may as well be looking up the arse of a horse than trying to figure out which direction they are running that's before anything else. All I know horses are for cowboys and sometimes one slips through into a meat factory |
