Hey folks,
I had briefly broached this topic before but there wasn't much feedback at the time so thought I would ask again.
I'm sure, like myself, a lot of you are maybe finding the isolation of lockdown, and lack of socialising, grinding you down
So on that note would any of you be interested in doing an online quiz either tomorrow evening or Saturday evening?
I would be hosting the quiz using Ahaslides.com
For those you who aren't familiar with Ahaslides you can look it up on Google or YouTube.
I would be looking to start it sometime between 8 and 9 and it would take roughly an hour or an hour and a half to complete.
I already have a number of quizzes ready to go that I have used for quiz nights with friends outside of Fab.
What I will do is put up details for a Zoom meeting on Friday or Saturday evening. For those of you who wish to remain anonymous you can log into the Zoom meeting and keep your camera and mic off.
Please note that this Zoom meeting will be solely for the purpose of conducting the quiz in a social manner.
Anybody who acts inappropriately or starts misbehaving, or behaving in a disrespectful manner, shall be immediately booted from the meeting.
I shall then post a link for the quiz in the chat on Zoom.
For those of you who don't wish to use Zoom at all I shall also post the quiz link here on the forums but it just means you won't be able to communicate with me during the quiz.
Once you click on the link it will take you to a screen asking you to input your nickname for the quiz.
Once everybody is ready I shall then start the quiz.
There are eighty questions which will appear in turn on your screen.
For each question you have 15 seconds to answer and there will be four possible answers.
Pick whichever of the four answers you think is correct and then click submit.
If you get a question wrong then you get 0 points for that question.
If you answer correctly then the faster you answered the question the more points you get.
Each correct answer is worth a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 50 points (depending how quickly you answer).
Beware though as sometimes it's better to take an extra second or two to consider your answer before submitting.
Lower points for a correct answer is better than 0 points for a hasty wrong answer.
All the points will be totalled as the quiz goes on and a leaderboard will show the current leader at the end of each round and then the overall winner at the end of the quiz.

Art & Literature
General Knowledge
Geography
History
Music
Politics
Science
Sports
TV & Movies
I know some of you may feel somewhat dubious about trying this out but all I'm suggesting is that you give it one try.
If you don't like it or it's not for you then that's fair enough and you don't have to do another one.
I have a feeling though that some of you will quite enjoy it as my non-Fab friends and I have done. We've found that it helps us have some form of social interaction during lockdown.
If it goes well then we can make it a regular thing and fine-tune it as we go along.
Give me.your thoughts and if interested let me know whether tomorrow or Saturday suits you better.

Hi, yes. It will work on any Smartphone, Tablet or Laptop/Desktop
You just have to tap on your chosen answer and then tap submit. |

Oooh could be a giggle. I might give it a go if I am free. Already quizzing friday and maybe Saturday but will keep eye on this thread and hopefully make it.
I found quizzes helpful. Used to go to pub quizzes 2 nights a week and all done online now and great way to see everyone and stuff.

Yes, exactly, my friends and I have found quizzing each week a great way of staying in touch during the lockdown periods.
We usually do it every Tuesday and it is great craic and banter.
It also breaks up the monotony of the week for us. |

They're really fun though admittedly I'm not great at them. I'm usually sort of average but I find I learn new stuff with every quiz. It's a fun way of learning. |

Tomorrow night doesnt suit us as are quizzing Sat nights already! So it's no prob if you are doing this tomorrow, idea sounds great do,fair play! |

Hey, I'll be doing it tonight and might do it tomorrow also for those that can't make it tonight. I'll see how tonight goes first.

I like most white wines but Chardonnay would be my main preference.
I also don't mind Reds but will always choose white over red when both available.  |

Thanks for taking part folks.
Went better than I expected and was good craic.
Congrats to the winners CuriousDuo and well done to the VERY close runner up Aphrodite. You were both neck in neck all the way which kept it interesting right til the end.
Will sort another quiz sometime soonish. Keep an eye out on the forum here and hopefully see you all again soon. |
