Big money for a merc that has a dacia/Nissan engine.

Mercedes all the way... they last longer and are absolute class.

Better paint work, sturdy and better in bad weather.

I drive a German car, and I'd avoid Audi and BMW's

VW or Mercedes all the way.

Personally I'd go BMW as I prefer their body shape, especially the 4 and 6 series.

Would have to have X-drive though as I'm too used to seeing them fucked in the snow/ice.

None of them in RoI has good specs. I had Honda and Mazda now both bought in the UK.

Extra 50eur every year paying tax is not a big deal to me but the comfort of driving is much better

I had Mercedes diff models before came to Ireland but would never buy it in RoI.

"With is better Mercedes or Bmw?

Please dont forget that the specs are different in RoI than on the continent.

Half of my family used to biy only Mercedes, another half BMW only.

Some of them bought the cars with special specs.

And driving both cars was absolutely amazing

I cant say similar about cars available in RoI.

I've a C63 W204, up until November it was one of the best cars I've owned.

Then the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. It went into limp home mode and couldn't be driven.

The diagnosis was it was the ABS module. From Mercedes they quoted just under €4000 for a new module.

Took it to a merc specialist and it turned out to be the drivers side ABS sensor. €40 plus an hour labour and reset.

Mercedes are great, utterly shit in the snow though

They are quite powerful. Dont forget its a battery so when you put foot down you don't have to go through gears to get speed up.. A battery is like a switch. There is the tax incentive, EV are in a low tax band because carbon emission is low, they are cheaper to run and charge than combustion engine, there are more charge points around country now, they look nice though I haven't seen the bi fold wings in ireland (I did in Norway and they are cool).... Plus I'm doing my bit for environment so when Paddy the Polar bear in artic has more ice to slide around on i will be able to sleep s little easier at night!

BMW is translated as “ Bei Mercedes Weggeschmissen” or “Bau Mal Wieder” .

both are good car makers. In the starter and medium classes both are comparable . In the up market class Mercedes has the better finishing quality .

As German motorways are almost my second home , it’s not the car but the attitude of its driver. As both cars are powerful , BMW drivers have more tendency to tail tracing when you don’t move out of the fast lane at speed of 180 km/h fast enough . Mercedes drivers are usually mature drivers who accept that they could be the first one stuck on the next red traffic light if they want , but knowing this satisfies their need fir cockiness already

Younger fellows in 700er BMW are frowned upon as pimp car drivers as the car is very popular in the adult industry in DE and NL

Disagree regarding enviroment. The production for only battery is more harmful for the enviro than production of petrol or diesel cars.

Also, the power... Do you think it doesnt do any harm because of the production of the power? It does!

Its only great marketing nothing else. They are very well designed special filters for petrol and diesel cars and the emission is v low.

Besides that we need CO2

No CO2 means no production by the trees of the oxygen

Do not believe in everything you can hear or see in the tv.

I don't believe everything on TV but i would like to think I know a little about this subject little about this subject Regarding batteries you are correct there is a challenge regarding their manufacture and/or disposal but technology is changing constantly and the hope is in future these do not have to be mined in Africa and can be recycled easier. I totally disagree with your view of Ev vs Diesel emissions. Its a fact that diesel produces far higher emissions and why EU will ban new diesel by 2030-2035 in most EU countries. The stats cannot be disputed. Regarding power it is a valid point because EV does not produce any emissions. You may not desire a powerful car but the public demand does. If a car produces zero emissions and same power then a good thing. EV isn't perfect but it's a step in right direction. I believe hydrogen vehicles are future but until then the shift to EV should be encouraged

If you like to do your research then try to find a new technologies patented by Polish scientists. This technology will be used in Poland soon, other countries like UAE also interested to use it.

Im hoping it also can be used for cars - the question is who will be so brave to change the engine as hybrid, and whats has to be out will be converted into energy or power?

I believe everything is possible, and many researchers around the globe are working on the best solution.

Fingers&toes crossed!

The build quality on german built cars such as VW, Skoda, BMW, Mercedes Benz has dropped massively in the last 10 years,

anything with more than 200,000 kms is going to be a money pit unless you have a great mechanic.

I know that BMW stays for Bayrische Motorenwerke , the quotes I stated is the conversion of the abbreviation in peoples mind on the street. That you cannot make head and tails of it is probably due to the fact that my German is more advanced than yours and to get the point of the sarcasm of the meaning a high level of knowing German language and culture is probably needed . My apologies to taking it to far for none German speakers .

"Both are good let's be honest (if I had choose it would be BMW) but my next car will be Tesla

Why They are quite powerful.

Have to be honest I think the build quality isn't great in a Tesla

If I'm spending that much on a car I'd want more then they offer for the price

But horse's for course's I suppose "

Correct n right.. I hate to burst bubble in regards to battery powered cars.. To the environment they already have nearly 8years of emissions created before they have a number plate.. So in reaction to the best car in the future...hydrogen power baby..

As for next car I'd have to pick Mercedes 3.0 diesel powered engine..bullet proof in comparison to the 2.1 diesel.. but your car tax in ire is higher at 570 ish but you save it in repair Bill's.. I will say they're bitch in winter being rear wheel drive

somewhere

You can tell who drives a Merc or a BMW by guessing from their answers

Except for the Audi drivers because they like to let everyone know ...a bit like vegans

Colonel Gaddafi’s custom built Maybach is up for auction I read somewhere last night....check your ticket. I think they’re expecting around €500k for it....

I hear you, I’d love an old G300TD in LWB...If that doesn’t come to fruition an early 90’s Unimog will do me as well...

"With is better Mercedes or Bmw?"

Depends what image you want to portray

Are you going for the gangsta, dealer, pimp, getaway driver, Chauffeur, sales rep, bank manager or wag look

I do love my 300bhp BMW 430 coupe. But admittedly I do love some of the Mercedes jeeps!

I’ve had both Merc and BMW in recent times but I recently went and bought a top of the range model of a 2019 Ford Mondeo and can quite honestly say it beats both of them hands down

"Depends on what your driving needs are I would think.

Big money for a merc that has a dacia/Nissan engine.

"

Maybe tell the Mercedes factory in Stuttgart they are using Dacia/Nissan engines... I am sure they don't know

Its a renault engine actually 1.5dci..had 1 in a nissan van a few years ago did 200k miles when the fuel pump disintegrated and took the injectors out with it ..that mileage is good for such a little engine..I hear horror stories of people who only managed 50k and this happens so I got lucky ..it is a renault after all..

Pretty good advice, after 10 years they are disposable. Vw and Skoda are as bad.

Having had a bmw x3 and a 220e. I would just favour the merc if they were my only choice. Better value would be a jag. Much more reliable and better value.

Not an easy answer, both have stunning cars that you'd die for and both have cars I wouldn't be seen dead in.
