Just an idea at this point but would there be much interest?

With lockdown still prevalent I thought why not try something to not only pass the time, be a bit of fun, but maybe help keep people company as well

Say a different film every two weeks? I don't know if that seems too much or too little but early days, with some still obviously working and busy, it seems a good starting point I reckon!

Some could even try and sync up their viewing with each other; make a night of it with friends

Understandably not everyone has access to streaming services and the like but I'm sure we could all help each other out if some needed a helping hand in finding where to watch a particular film

What does everyone else think?

Some folk who may be interested may still be working away and struggle to find the time but it'll be trial and error at first sure!

I'll leave it for a week or so then drop the first film in the thread.

After that we can take it in turns to recommend something and people can see who else is "in" if they want to organise a wee viewing party amongst themselves

Individuals could always arrange such a thing amongst themselves if they were interested; post that you're up for a live viewing with others once the movie is chosen.

It would help avoid spoilers too if folk did it individually but in general I won't be starting any such group

Great idea and good to see.

We enjoy a good cuddle up in the couch and watching a film (it gives me an excuse to cup boobie and eat chocolate at the same time). However, we like to watch films that entertain so we tend not to watch anything overly thought provoking or mental stimulating.

Unless it has aliens, monsters, boobs, zombies, supernatural killers, boobs, gross out immature comedy, superhero’s, Jedi, or a combination of all the above then we don’t tend watch.

Movies are escapism for us, as is fab to be fair.

But wish you folks all the best with another great idea from Pete

So the first film is unashamedly a personal favourite of mine but I think it's genuinely one of the best thrillers out there to be fair!

It's available on Netflix but for those who may not have access to such I'm sure there's a friendly Fabber amongst us who knows where to find it

'Prisoners'

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal

If it's easier for everyone I'm more than happy to keep on top of updating the thread with recommendations.

However, with the aim being that everyone gets a chance to recommend a film how does it sound that those interested message a small list of their own, to myself, and I'll make sure to spread them out fairly as the weeks go on!

I'll post whose recommendation it is alongside the synopsis etc

Just to potentially stop the thread having multiple films dropped in the one week if folk miss a post or two!

That's a good point, the hope is after a while some folk maybe form their own wee viewing circles for company!

For the thread though maybe a week is a fair amount of time.

Once folk see the new recommendation each Friday there'll only be discussion of the previous film from then on until the next one!

Any deals going?

Yes, I know how to acquire through other methods thanks "

Just have to go with what's available to the majority at the moment! I'd be happy enough to source films through other means but I imagine most will have Netflix or Prime to choose from.

If there's a film on TV some night folk can send it on anytime as that'll change weekly to be fair!

Yep, as you say, it's a mixed bag.

I do have Prime and Disney+ but I don't imagine too many suggestions from the latter

**SPOILERS**

Just in case

So for those that saw it this past week, what did you think of 'Prisoners'?

For such a long film it's still able to keep you on the edge of your seat, in my opinion anyway!

Do folk think he was found?

I'd seen the film before but actually enjoyed watching it again. I think i may have slept through some bits the first time I watched it. Oops

Being the optimist that i am I'd say he was definitely found!

Really like jake gyllenhaal in this, I enjoy his quirky weirdness.

Excellent film!

I've always thought he found him but it was verified when I saw some behind the scenes on the blu ray. They said they had actually shot a scene where Gyllenhaals character had found him but they left it out because it leaves the audience to make up their own mind. They also said Gyllenhaals character is so dedicated that he would certainly find him. It doesn't end well for Jackman either way. With what he had done he is going to prison anyway.

Such a great film.

I thought it was a great film, I had started to watch the film previously late at night and it kept me from going to bed so that’s a good sign in my books

He had to be found, gyllenhall has never not solved a case remember. He was the star of the show for me.

Have most seen last weeks film? What did you think?

It was definitely something I wouldn't normally watch which is good, all about trying new things in that regard!

Can't say I'd watch it again though for something so seemingly fast paced, just shy of two hours too, I felt not a lot really happened! Ended kind of abruptly too.

Had never seen a Robert Pattinson film before though and he pleasantly surprised me I must say.

New film will be posted this evening, don't forget to message your three recommendations in if you haven't already

A fun, kinda quirky movie. Suitable for kids and yes, it's an enjoyable family watch. Young female twist on Sherlock Holmes that's well done, decent story but with a few questionable How Could That Have Happened moments that detract a little but younger viewers seem to miss those so all good.

Definitely a good family movie for this weekend
