somewhere

Just saw an ad for a programme on RTE at 9.30 tonight

The Way We Were

Its a series about how Ireland used to be and tonight looks at holidays

So if you ever went to Butlins or can remember when you could smoke on a plane going to Spain it'll bring back memories

Belfast

I remember spending almost an hour in the cockpit of an Aer Lingus plane with my kids on the way to Florida in 2000.

Yes I was also one of those dads that asked could my kids see the cockpit ....when I was more delighted than them

"Great show, did anyone watch it??"

Just finished and old enough to remember most of it

So many happy memories on the dart going to Bray

Butlins where I won an all Ireland ballroom dancing championship at the age of 12

Going on a 747 to the Gran Canaries

Brilliant programme

It was in the 80's in fairness

It would stop in Gran Canaria and 80% of the plane would get off and then refill with people going home

Take off to Tenerife wher the other 20% would get off and refill again with people going home

It was like a bus a 747 packed with Irish people singing, drinking and smoking

Not forgetting the round of applause when we landed

Its a wonder there wasn't a collection getting off for the crew
