So maybe not what you thought it would be about but remember the good old days before we read stuff on phones.
My reading materials apart from books ranged from The Dandy and The Beano right up to Maxim / FHM
Do kids even have comics anymore
Did you ever read your mate's sisters copy of The Bunty
My favorite story was Billy's Boots
What was yours

I used to read my aunts old bunty and mandy annuals when i went to stay with my nanny when i was small. She kept them all because she knew i loved them. My girls have zero interest in comics and any "kids magazines" now are like 5 and 6 euro or more. Cant justify the price |

Warlord, Hotspur, 2000AD, Roy of the Rovers.
I used to have the first 20 issues of 2000AD in so so condition. I was never that much of a collector.
Sold issue one about 4 or 5 years ago for £120 without the spinner toy that came with it.
Still have all the others along with Beano and Dandy from 1970 onwards.
Also had an original copy of the first ever Superman comic that belonged to my mum but it was stolen from my locker when I took it to school for an exhibition. |

This post triggered traumatic childhood memories.
Older cousins from England gave us boxes and boxes, with years and years of every edition of Beano, Dandy and Beezer comic. Must have been thousands of comics.
Queue a school jumble sale, my mother insisted they would "sell like hot cakes" and donated them all.
Barely a single one was sold, and one of the organisers ended up taking them all home after.
I'm still very bitter |

Lord Peter Flint"

"2000ad was brilliant
Yes, think Strontium Dog was one of my favourite stories in it "
He started in Starlord and only appeared in 2000AD when the two comics combined.
Just like Dan Dare was originally in Eagle. |

"What comic was The Four Mary's in....that's popped up in my head "
I'm pretty sure that was Bunty.
I read Bunty, Mandy, Beano & Dandy as a youngster, but my absolute favourite was the short-lived Misty - supernatural horror for pre-teen girls.
Moved onto 2000AD & similar for a year or 2 in my teens - obsessed over Halo Jones & Tank Girl for a while |

I loved the Beano and Roy of the Rovers. Almost bought the RotR books in Forbidden Planet a couple of months ago.
I have some nice 1970's and 80's annuals in the shop, Warlord, 2000AD, Hotspur, along with Rupert the Bear and the tv show annuals, Dukes of Hazzard, Happy Days, Knight Rider, Street Hawk etc
Still popular among the big kids lol |
