I know some people who work in the offices of the HSE

Zero contact with the general public or patients and have appointments on Thursday to get the vaccine ...just wrong

Thats crazy, think there's going to be a lot of questions over who gets it, seen a discussion today, say your family member is in a nursing home but has dementia or alzheimers is the vaccine given to them? Are the family asked? How does someone make that decision

I know up here different care homes are deciding different ways. Some the residents medical teams make the decision and families are kept informed of a family is completely against the idea then that is taken into consideration but ultimately it's up to the medical team to decide. In other homes families decide and then it is cleared by the medical team. Most families tho decide to give the jab as it will allow visiting to start in homes faster and a it has been a long time since people have been allowed to actually hug and touch their loved ones.

Staff are given the option if they want it. No one is forced to but it is strongly recommended that we take it. I did because as far as I'm concerned the pros far outweigh the cons. I'm getting the 2nd jab next month.

It is rude at least to talk about vaccine in a NY topic. I don't want to talk about vaccines and this is why I started a conversation about New Year. What is so hard to understand in it?

Is it really bad that I'm loving the whole lockdown excuse to NOT party? Lolol

I often find myself getting upset on New Years Eve. Even when I'm out, I kinda used to feck off by myself outside just coming up to midnight & for a lil bit after it

Belfast

Never been a fan of NYE. Probably tainted by getting dumped by my first girlfriend at 5 mins to midnight and she then saw in the New year by snogging another guy on the dancefloor.

Went out the following year and almost lost my sister in the crush at midnight when she was trampled underfoot.

Last time I did anything of note on NYE was for the millennium so it's not a significant night.

Well lockdown forced us to not to party but I get that a lot of people enjoyed not having to interact socially. I was one of them. Never really liked crowds unless in a concert or a dance floor.

Now traditions for new year's eve, there are countless. Whatever works for each individual.

We love NY parties, not always could go out due to the professional reasons, but we really enjoy it. The European city streets and main squares are usually crowded and full of music. There are countries which really invest a lot into the celebrations. First thing you notice on the NYE when you come to Ireland is: why is it so quiet here??
