"is it all a little too late or glad to see it introduced?"

Too little too late. And not really sure what difference 48 hrs will make. The amount if English reg vehicles already in the country is unreal. Thing the only thing it will do is cause more upset for people

Too little too late. You can still fly from the UK into NI. Easy to make the trip across the border. Border should closed to all non essential trips in and out of NI. Won't happen though.

There should have been an all island approach to this whole thing. Especially as closing the border in Ireland is almost impossible, even if it were attempted.

Same down here, our Taoiseach said a few days ago that we didn't bail out the banks when the crash happened, WE DID, same mehole was minister of the government who ran the country into the ground and signed up for the bailout which we're still paying for years to come. Insult over insult! The denial is UNBELIEVABLE! He should have never become Taoiseach! He should be fired on the spot.

Gosh, I'm glad I finally got rid of that rant....

Not at all. But it would be great if everyone followed the guidelines to minimise the impact for everyone. That doesn't require living under a bed as you put it. It does require compassion and empathy and a bit of selflessness.

Too little too late. You can still fly from the UK into NI. Easy to make the trip across the border. Border should closed to all non essential trips in and out of NI. Won't happen though. "

That border cannot be closed. They tried from 1979 onwards & the unmarked crossing points remained well used.

I agree. I didn't say otherwise.

The point I'm trying to make is there are people both sides of the border being reckless. Another reason for the border to be closed

I've lived on the border all my life and I've no problem with it being closed if it would help but my point is that idiots will always see it as a challenge. "

The main word there being idiots

"PSNI were called to a house party in South Belfast the other night. There were 17 people there from multiple households and most were from South of the border.

And plenty of northern Irish making the trip to shop in Dublin the last few weeks.

I agree. I didn't say otherwise.

The point I'm trying to make is there are people both sides of the border being reckless. Another reason for the border to be closed

I've lived on the border all my life and I've no problem with it being closed if it would help but my point is that idiots will always see it as a challenge. "

Part of the problem is a lack of knowledge of where exactly the border is. This was highlighted a couple of weeks ago when the Guards set up a checkpoint a few hundred yards into NI and had to be advised by locals.

its a lad I know whose company told them if they went on their work night out tonight, they'd be sacked. I didn't think any company could do that.

It's possible to be sacked for misbehaviour on a work night out so this could be true

If a company during these times made going on a works night out an act of gross misconduct then absolutely yes. Think about how it could affect the company, not just reputationally, but also operationally. If you intentionally put the company, its business and its employees at risk then I think its understandable you'd be subject to disciplinary action.

If its booked under the company name or uses a company party fund it can be viewed as an extention of the work place and could be subject to disciplinary. Otherwise nope

Before you cancel Christmas and New year's Eve with your loved ones, remember that this may be the last holiday you have. We are not guaranteed a single minute on this earth. Stop living in fear and embrace life to its fullest!

you coukd die from anything and not be around next year. thats basically what the slogan is saying. there is no clusters of cases linked back to gastro pubs and wet pubs are shut. its hilarious when people continously blame hospitality industry. non essential retail Is open, shops jam packed and nothing done. I'd say schools might not reopen in January either. it wouldn't surprise me.

From a Facebook page that calls people getting vaccinated "sheepies" which therefore includes yourself as you are in a hurry to get itthe quicker we get vaccinated the quicker life returns to normal. it's really the only option

Do you not see the irony of what you are saying?

The page you are quoting as making a real and true statement are calling you an idiot for getting vaccinated. They claim covid doesn't exist doesnt mean covid doesnt exit. it means get out and on with your life and you might not be around anyway next xmas

You are like one of those who read the Bible selectively too and use it to beat people over the headnot at all but I do live in the here and now and do everything I'm allowed too that I enjoy. "

But you don't do you? You spend your time preaching and telling everyone else how wrong they are and complaining about restrictions.

If you truly lived in the here and now you would embrace what you have and make the most of it and stop whinging.

"These repetitive covid threads make my blood boil. You have 2 types of people here. Those who will try their best to help slow down this virus and keep their families and friends safe, then you have those who absolute could not give a fuck. Selfish beyond comprehension. and then u have people saying this and it's very hard to disagree.

Before you cancel Christmas and New year's Eve with your loved ones, remember that this may be the last holiday you have. We are not guaranteed a single minute on this earth. Stop living in fear and embrace life to its fullest!

I really hope your stupidity doesn't come back and slap you in the face . living life under guidlines is stupidity? good one. I know many people with underlying conditions are living life as best they can also because they're going demented. I supposed ud tell them they should be living under a bed the last 10 months, would you?"

Where does this living under a bed come from.? Its a bit of a silly expression really. I wouldn't dictate to anyone as to how I feel they should be living their lives as I leave that to the medical experts and would say to them not to listen to the idiots on social media.

I make the most of it but some of the rules make little or no sense. closing x and leaving y open. it's what everyone is complaining about. what they did to the hospitality sector today and hairdressers was a disgrace. 2 days notice. hairdressers have gone above and beyond with protective measures and no cases linked to them. I'm delighted also for friends who have gyms and were let open. I just hope we can go training with kids in new year and get some normality in their lives.

the uk travel ban is ridiculous..if somebody wants to return to Ireland from uk for christmas all they have to do is get a flight to belfast or get the ferry from scotland to belfast..its part of uk so uk travel is permitted then once in NI just cross the border and go on your merry way...
