Who else is spending Christmas on their own? I've decided to do it as its safer with older family members at risk with Covid and it's a great excuse to avoid what is always a boring awkward family occasion. |

I may be on my own this xmas. I have had a few on my own, it's sad and can be lonely but it's not that bad . I remember one year just being as happy as a pig in shit after being in a long term for almost 7 years. It was just the freedom of it. Sometimes i think am probably better off alone as for me it's a difficult time of year as am sure for many others also. OP best of luck with your decision and remember it is your decision at the end of the day to keep yourself well. |

"Absolutely, it's an opportunity to do whatever you wish for the day! I always feel forced into doing the same thing every year."
It's your life OP, please yourself. For many people the stress of playing happy families far outweighs the societally perceived loneliness of spending one day by yourself. |

I have been with local family members all the time so will have dinner like we always do. I dont have anybody with extreme underlying conditions or elderly. 99% who I have heard talking about it are having dinner with local family. there is no family travelling from diff parts of Ireland to the one area. |
