Just wondering if I'm just an old fuddy Duddy ( no answers from down the back please)
I call my dad....dad
All my brothers call him by his first name
My kids( in their 20's and a teenager) have decided to start calling me by my first name and I have to be honest I feckin hate it
I've asked them not to but I know if I make a huge big deal of it they'll do it just to piss me off
Genuinely curious what others on here do

I have called my dad as dad, my mum as mum, and my boys call me "mamo", "mamusiu". They never called me mother = matka
All of them are big boys now

Two of mine call me dad and the third by my first name when she's trying to wind me up. I just ignore it.
My grandkids call me Granda ....
with my first name attached. I don't mind that as it's cute. |

Call my parents mum and dad. My sin calls me mum.
My son always knew he was in trouble when he got called by his full name.
At 46 I find it odd calling my parents by their first name

I don't have children but I call my mother mum my father has passed away but I always called him dad. An ex use to call his parents by their first names more to annoy them rather than anything else. |

I call my parents Daddy and Mammy.
Mine call me Dad mostly, sometimes Daddy, sometimes something less paternal
They call wife Mam or Mammy.
They never really use our first names though when they want to wind me up they use an English slang version of my name they know that I am not fond of but hey, kids will be kids. |

My dad loved the women and it was just so not cool to be called dad in front of other people. So he asked me to call him by his name when I was around twenty. As I love my dad, I did so (at least for a while), until my sister turned him into a grandad
BM it might be just a phase they go through until they hit 30.... |

I called my parents mam and dad right to the end, my brother started referring to them by their given names a few years before they died, although I noticed that in person he didn't use any name when addressing them directly. I think that for some people who don't feel close to their parents, it's a means of detaching oneself. Or just an attempt to assert independence or equality as a young adult (while still expecting the parent to pick up the tab ) |

The eldest came to me yesterday with a problem
He needed a utility bill dated in the last 6 months as proof of address
The fecker doesn't have any bills at all ffs |
