This is a general question to all..
What do you normally prefer from a stranger? A wink or a message? Which one is expected to be seen and responded faster??

Not everyone is great at writing a first message but that doesn't mean they're not worth talking to so I like that Fab offers a few ways to break the ice
I've sent 'winks' before, mostly for wee forum games, though I'll normally send a message myself but I don't mind receiving either one; beggars can't be choosers sure! |

I got a bit spoiled here as every lady on here I suppose, with the ratio men vs. women, so instead of texting first, I wink to call the attention of someone I like and if I'm lucky enough I'll get a message.
On the other way. I check both, winks and messages are nice to get.

"Winks are pointless"
I don’t agree.. as a single man it’s handy for a lady or couple to give us guys a chance to send a message.. if we actually fancy them or not.. so the wink is just that a little nudge to say what have you got ? |

Can't remember the last time I sent a wink that wasn't part of a forum game.
Have received half a dozen winks that I've deleted without response as nothing about those profiles appealed to me and I won't wink just for the sake of it.
I respond to all messages though. |

Message.
Winks mean nothing to me unless it's someone I'm already chatting to or have met.
If men are expected to put effort in then I think it should work both ways.
Winks are lazy as a first contact.
Not interested. |

I find sending winks pointless myself to people... Although sometimes messages are just as pointless
However I do get winks, and then respond to the people or persons via message then to start a conversation if interest.
So I suppose it works both ways |

" when am flicking though fabulous ladies fabulous outfits fabulous outlooks I do sometimes Wink it’s my nod to a Particular profile or picture that has caught my imagination , I don’t expect to hear back it’s just down time on a long 12 hour day |

If I am serious about contacting a lady, I will always message as I believe that ladies get so many winks and messages that they are hardened not to check winks, in the main.
The odd time if I have a passing interest, I will lazily hit the 'wink' button as a Hail Mary shot that I don't expect will work.
If I get a wink though it will usually take me days to see there is one as the fab interface is somewhat simplistic and so the wink doesn't stand out a great deal but then its nice to get as a guy and I will usually respond to that. |

I quite like getting winks, but I'm never sure what they're meant to mean and sometimes I send a message in response but don't get a reply to it. So I do prefer to get messages. Not getting many of either these days, mind you! |

I’m surprised how many people don’t find winks useful.
Probably about 70% of the conversations I have on here come off the back of winking at each other.
For me it’s a friendly flirty way to show interest and it saves time and effort for both parties who are either taking the time to write the message or taking time time to read the message
Also winks are easier to ignore compared to messages and also easier to find the diamond in the dirt. |

I will often wink at a profile that catches my eye.
The function is on the site for a reason, an early expression of interest.
I wink to see if someone might be interested before adding to busy inboxes. Same goes for replying, I’ll return a wink to show I’m willing to chat (I’ll usually return it with a message tbh)

I have no chance of looking at winks. Ever. It’s hard enough to get through messages. At least I can filter the messages that use the right subject...
However if I ever see a profile that I like, if they’ve already winked, I’ll wink back

Only use wink if part of a forum thread, otherwise I don't, and don't check either.
Messaging only after engaging g with someone in the forums, never straight off the bat. |

Admin put "wink" in to be used, not something to call people lazy for using it, I winked you, if you winked back, then msg follows, it's has simple, but some folks just need to be angry about the simplest things |

Both, wink or message will work with us. If we are interested in sender we will engage conversation. Nothing wrong with winks, its not always sign of ignorance, great tool for shy people |

From a single guy perspective, a message is best. Majority of people find winks lazy. So if you like a profile, don't take the risk by sending a wink. Take few minutes to read their profile and send a typed message. |

The wink function is there and of people arbitrarily decide that they aren’t goi g to use them or ignore them then they stand to miss out on connecting with someone who doesn’t know the ‘wink rules’ they have randomly made up. |
