What factors do you take into consideration when deciding to post on a thread?

Most will say they only post when something catches their eye but there are also the magpie posters who see a shiny new thread and just have to have it.

Do you look to see who the op is first?

If you don't know them would you take the time to look at their profile or their forum history before commenting or do you comment based purely on the content of the thread title?

Do you comment blindly or take the time to read even parts of what others may have posted?

If the thread has been running for a few hours/days/weeks and has 50 or 100 comments do you just read the opening comment and jump in to attack the original post and risk looking foolish if the conversation has moved well passed that?

I have the concentration span of a goldfish so I'm not going to travel through 127 previous posts, I'll only "contribute" normally if the thread was recently started.

It is funny though to see the people who haven't bothered to read previous posts wade in yet again with righteous indignation when the OP has already clarified their meaning earlier in the thread.

Somewhere in Co. Down

I'll usually just post on threads that pique my interest and usually I will read most of not all the comments first.

I do look at profiles especially if it is someone I don't remember seeing before and if it seems to be a thread made just to get a reaction I do check out the green arrow. That can be quite revealing at times.

Some threads that get resurrected though are months old. Half the time the op and posters are gone unlos even. It makes me wonder why bother resurrecting the thread why not just start a new one.I even saw recently one brought back to life by someone trying to argue with the op who was gone off fab.

somewhere

I normally post if I feel I can contribute something to the conversation no matter who starts the thread

However I've decided not to bother my arse anymore on some people's threads because they seem to change their mind as the thread progress's and its a pain in the bollox basically.

If you skip to the end there's a high probability that one of the most recent posts has been a rolling quote-athon.

Too many questions in that op!

If I find the topic interesting I crossread the thread and post regardless of OP. I only check an op profile for context or when the bs sensor goes off.

If a thread gets lost in 3 to 5 people bantering forwards and backwards I quit.

What factors do you take into consideration when deciding to post on a thread?

If it’s gone off into a flirt fest, nope

If it’s the usual judgemental crap from the same people, nope

If it’s a genuine discussion, sometimes.

If it’s about sports (why??) nope.

If it’s a bit of a laugh, yep.

If it’s really long or interesting I’ll read and comment.

There are a couple of forum regulars who are absolute assholes, and if they have posted, nope.

If I think a subject is interesting and I like a particular comment, I am more likely to reply directly to someone and chat.

I dip in and out of the forums every so often.some topics can catch the eye , good to get other's views on things but I am reluctant to post due to certain profiles popping up on almost every thread either slating people for having a different opinion or just generally being negative.

Healthy debate is refreshing, the say something nice about the person above threads are lovely to read through.

The continuing the story threads can be funny .

But a well thought out topic put forward in the right way is always a winner OP
