"My grandad taught me how to use a lamp and a slashook type thing to poach salmon."
Indeed Laid - and the ones throwing their hands up in horror are often the first to sit down to a nice salmon fillet or rabbit fricassee.
Some folk believe their meat comes ready packed from nature |

Nobody believes that. There is a big difference between hunting for food and hunting for fun. People who take joy and pleasure in killing something are scum. |

I used to go hunting/fishing with my dad from around 5 years old. I've killed and eaten most edible animals (I've not killed any farm animals) but everything I killed I cleaned and cooked myself. I doubt most people would be able to do it. In the end I took up target shooting and rarely go hunting anymore. |

Yet everyone who has posted re lamping has said they eat the results of their kill.....
I’m intrigued as to the double standard where killing a fish cleanly and eating it is abhorrent yet many of those same folk lap up their fish supper on a Friday night.
Have you ever seen a factory trawlers? How the fish are suffocated or crushed or filleted live before being packed in use for the masses’ fish fingers?
If someone is a vegetarian or a vegan their views on the intricacies of hunting are valid.
For those who eat fish / meat at best you’re naive and at worst a wilfully naive hypocrite |

My point couldn't have been clearer. If you take pleasure in killing something, if getting your gun and shooting something is your idea of fun, then in my opinion you are a psycho and a scumbag.
My issue isn't with hunting for food, as I already said.
OP is clearly excited about the prospect of killing animals, that's scummy. |

Hardy, you were going great until you started this thread. Hunting for food versus hunting for 'fun' .... big difference |

Lamping isnt against the law...its legal to "lamp" foxes and rabbits...you'll need the farmer to get a special permit to lamp deer..only one person can be nominated as they cant be lamped under normal circumstances...
I'm not condoning anything...I'm just stating what it is...
Itll eventually be illegal...
Farmers wont want people with a lamp and a gun in the dark... |

For the record I have no interest in shooting small animals. I shoot one large male red deer annually and everything else is caught with a fishing rod and all for consumption |

"If ye were any good ye would be able to track and shoot them during the day!"
Except it's rare to see foxes in daylight unless there is s shortage of food
Most of my hunting was done a dusk and dawn (rabbits main time of activity). But that was 20 years ago as I found shooting animals too easy so got into competition shooting
Now with IR scopes lamping isn't needed.

"But I will say this a few people with rifles and lamps is a million times more effective than a load of cunts on horseback at keeping fox numbers down. "
Well said buddy. |

As far as I know they have to apply for a firearm cert for one similar to a suppressor. I don't have one as I don't have a need for one. So getting one would be up to you local firearm sargent |

Discovered Hoggs of Fife a while ago. A bit narrow around the ankles for pulling them off but very comfortable to cover good distances walking in them. |
