A €5000 loan with no income and the worlds worst credit. Is it possible in any way shape or form?

I wouldnt say impossible. Student loans are pretty much that, zero job or income, go up to a max of 5000, but you will definitly need to get someone else to sign as a guarantor.

"How would you afford the repayments with no job?"

25 a week would be 1300 a year.

1300 over 5 years would be 6500

That’s 30% interest.

Not bad considering.

I wouldn't be trusting 5k with someone with a history of not paying money owed, and who doesnt have a job.. even if the payments were "only" 25euro a week. I dont think a bank would DREAM of it either.

I don't have a history of not paying money back. I've never even taken a loan before.

I need a student loan to pay for college. I just don't understand how it all works.

So you would give €5k to someone who openly admits there's probably no way it's being repaid

She could be on the Covid payment which is 350 a week which is the same as some one who’s on min wage earns after tax. These people are able to acquire loans of fair more than 5 grand.

And even if she was on the dole she would be able to get finance on a car worth up to 20,000.

Is there a history of this person not paying money owed? If there is sorry I missed that.

I don't really use my bank account so I don't have an income on paper. I can afford to pay back the loan.

No it doesn’t. Can show me where you found this definition?

I had a bad credit score based on the fact that I never had a loan until I applied for a mortgage and never had any direct debits. It was so bad I was told I didn’t have a score.

Are you really arguing that the "worlds worst credit" means not having any credit. Like it's not possible to be worse than having none.. because that's clearly bullshit.

Not having had a loan before is the big problem

You need to build up a credit score first

Do you have a credit card that you pay off in full as thats the first step normally

Having no credit is way better than having a bad credit history. It's not great though as lenders dont have past experience to use to predict if you will repay as agreed.

Somebody on here is assuming you didn’t payback a loan. Maybe there using their own personal experience.

But you may just not have a score. Which in turn is bad but no worst. Don’t take advice off anyone on this unless they have worked in the area of finance.

The term worlds worst credit is often used in reference to people who have a poor credit record and the inability to keep up the terms of loan agreements.

If you've never had a loan before youre in a much better position than someone with a bad credit score

That usually means you've defaulted for whatever reason on a repayment

Once you take out your first loan and are repaying according to schedule you'll get offered loans by feckin everyone

As others have said talk to your local credit union if you don't regularly use your bank account

How do you know this? A financial institution looks at so much more when determining your credit score and not just how many loans you’ve had in the past?

This. Irish lenders don't count having no credit history as a bad credit history - that's a US phenomenon that's crept into our consciousness.

So as far as I have read, a credit union will give a student loan to someone with no credit and infrequent income if I have someone to sign the loan with me. Which I do.

Is that all correct?

It's a credit union student loan that I'm looking for. I don't like banks.

Absolutely. You don't need a strong credit history or an income to get a student loan, just a guarantor.

Kark

Start small, loan of 500 off the credit union (you'll probably need to have 250 already saved), pay it back on time and don't miss a payment and then you can go bigger on your next loan, copy and paste etc etc until you got your 5 grand.

Also regularly saving (standing order is best) with any back or credit union will build up a history, even if its only 5 euros a week

This is probably an intimidating prospect for someone who feels they are Bad At Finance. Also banks and lending institutions can be dismissive and unhelpful, depending on who's at the end of the phone.

I think you should be fine. It's the same situation any student would be in looking for a loan. As far as I know, 5k is the max they can offer in student loans, and as long as the person signing for the loan is good to make the repayments on your behalf if needed.

"Glad this see people are starting to talk sense and not dismissing you entirely. You can apply for lost loans online or just ring around.

People were always talking sense.. but we now have better information that was in the first post. Now we know she doesnt have a bad credit history, and she is a student. This makes all the difference in the world.

We don’t know she doesnt have a bad credit.

We know she never had a loan before. Way to much assuming done here for sometime that is incredibly important.

Pray tell how someone who hasn't borrowed anything can have bad credit.

Missed direct debits for car insurance, home insurance, electricity bills, phone bills. Any bill you can think of."

I don't have anything like that! I've never borrowed anything ever. I don't have a car and I live with my parents right now. Before that I paid my rent on time every month and I had prepay power. I paid my gas bill on time too. I've never let anyone down when it comes to money.

The Irish Credit Bureau dont include utility bills in their database.

A mobile phone contract is basically a loan for the value of the phone so yes that can show up. If you pay monthly car insurance then that's basically a loan also.

Paying your car insurance monthly is not a loan. In any stretch of the imagination.

Yeah it is. It's a credit contract with an interest rate.

How is a 17 year old able to do this?

Does that mean paying you tax every 3 months is a loan aswell?

No you can pay car tax quarterly without borrowing, but they build the interest into the fact you pay a higher rate than buying yearly.

A financial institutions interest is in getting their money back with interest. They arent too concerned about helping 17yr olds

17 year olds are able to pay there car insurance monthly. You believe paying car insurance monthly is loan. It’s against the law for a 17 year old to have a loan in Ireland.

So do you no how a 17 year old can get a loan from the car insurance company but not from the bank? Or maybe it might be that paying your car insurance monthly isn’t a loan.

Jaysus have a look at it next time you sign up. Car insurance premiums are a yearly payment. If you want to pay monthly then you pay a deposit and you are charged interest.

Ok you still haven’t answered the question.

None of what your saying makes it a loan.

The total amount on an insurance premium is due up front. If you dont pay up front then you are BORROWING that money and repaying monthly with interest. I'm not sure how YOU define a loan, but that is basically a loan in my book.

It’s not a loan. If you cancel early your not charged a penalty and you don’t have to repay anything. Again a 17 year old can not get a loan as it’s against the law but they can pay their car insurance monthly. There not the same thing

"I wouldn't be trusting 5k with someone with a history of not paying money owed, and who doesnt have a job.. even if the payments were "only" 25euro a week. I dont think a bank would DREAM of it either.

I don't have a history of not paying money back. I've never even taken a loan before.

I need a student loan to pay for college. I just don't understand how it all works. "

Talk to your student union officer, thats what your union is for, to help, guide & inform.

If they can't help then go to Citizens advice

Student loan is payable back when you start earning a certain amount of money when you do get a job .-That's the way it works up north anyway .
