Use 1 all the time.. Supposed to be an increased cancer risk though.. Food cooked in an air fryer contains way more carcinogins that oven cooking

I actually never use my oven anymore I have two airfryers. One's a smaller one that my teens are very proficient at using. The other's a larger 11L that's got a rotisserie function that turns out perfectly roast chicken in 30 minutes. I honestly couldn't live without them. You can do so much with them.

I cooked chips last night just to try it. Chips from a proper potatoe. They were lovely. Real healthy taste off them though. I'd say ud want to flavour meat with spices etc or could be very bland.

To be fair they are great in a busy household and relatively healthy compared to deep fat frying. Still prefer making my chios the old proper way. Thrice cooked.

How do you make homemade chips? Is it very labour intensive?

When I first got it I thought it'd end up in the press most of the time but I was wrong complete gamechanger. Obviously wouldn't cook everything in it but it makes a great job of burgers, sausages, hash browns, spring rolls, chicken goujons that sort of thing.

I still probably think you shouldnt be using it any more then once/twice a week even though it's a healthier alternative

If anything an air fryer cooks faster than a normal oven reason being its a smaller space to heat over a conventional oven.. I cooked a whole chicken in mine in a half hour turned out perfect.. An oven would take an hour and a half to get the same results

Why do you reckon so? Would it not be better as only a bit of oil is used?. Unless it burns at a higher temprature and the the oil massively??.

I read before that because an air fryer has such a small cooking space it creates way more carcinogens than a larger oven where nasty compounds don't seem to occur as much

Not true. The chemicals in question are formed as food browns so any method of cooking frying, roasting or baking is dangerous in this sense. Air fryer are definitely safer than deep frying as they use less oil and cook quicker.

Our house is full of mostly unused kitchen gadgets, including an ice cream maker, waffle maker, juicers, the list goes on. But we all LOVE our air fryer. Does amazing frozen chips (Supervalus are very cheap and delish ). Makes fabulous roast chicken, and last week tried our first roast beef, again, amazing.

Thought if buying one but out off by seeing so many being sold on FB market place and negative comments about the way they cook chips. However I've read a few saying they make great chips.

So those that make great chips what are the make and models? Would be good to get one and enjoy it rather than resell it again.

The Tower one in Lidl is a great one. It's much better than a more expensive Morphy Richards

Would never have previously recommended frozen chips, but they are amazing in an air fryer. We use Supervalu ones , I think they are only 89c and super tasty. And if you are feeling a bit Jamie Olivery, sprinkle with garlic half way through, or paprika, or chilli, or whatever you like. And don't over fill the fryer, or they won't cook properly.
