It's probably a bit dated when a lot of people don't have traditional telly at all.

Some just go for Netflix, Amazon prime, downloads or even just YouTube.

"Yes just dont see it been correct in this era"

A lot of black people find this term fetishising and dehumanising, others are OK with it.

Personally, I am not comfortable with it, and I'm especially not comfortable with white women and couples using it.

Any term that focuses on a physical attribute regardless of whether it's used in a positive or negative manner has no place in modern society.

Horrible. It objectifies the man, which doesn't say much for those using the term

I've yet to come across a black guy on here who has a serious issue with it. It's a stupid label that derives from porn and we're on a sex site. You won't make the world any better or deal with racial issues by jumping up on the oh we're so considered pc language wagon.

I don't like it. But then, I don't like BBW either.

To me, it takes away from the person it's describing. It's kind of dehumanising... As though he's not a man with feelings and flaws and dreams and insecurities but just a Big Black Cock. Same for BBW. I just don't like anything that's so objectifying.

Yeah but going by your statement calling someone a redhead or ginger shouldn't be allowed as it's focusing on a single part of the body. Then that leads to people saying you can't call someone a brunette or blonde etc. It's a snowball effect.

I decided not to challenge them as I have no place/right to comment on whether BBC should be used or not as it doesn't affect me on the outcome of it as I do not have a black willy, so whether people keep using the term or not doesn't affect my life but what you said intrigued me. I never claimed it was the same as being black but at the same time if a "white" person is giving out whether we should call a black person black or not, it's not really our place, it's what they want to be called themselves. We could make the same argument, I mean are we actually white? Look at the colour white, is that the same as our skin colour, so is it PC to refer to a Caucasian/White person as white the same as using black, is that PC?

I didn't challenge anyone on anything. I gave an opinion which you in turn challenged. I'm ginger or Auburn and as you can see from my profile it doesn't bother me either way.

I don't use it as my USP. I'm much more than the colour of my hair as I'm sure black men are much more than the size of their cock.

In my experience the only people who find political correctness problematic are people who have no experienced discrimination. It doesn't serve them in any way, so they resent having to make the extremely minimal effort it takes. Those people in my opinion, can get a fucking grip.

Please spare us this nonsensical “argument” which is so often rolled out by racists and the “I’m not racist but...” brigade. It smacks of the standard white male privilege that tries to make everything about their life experience with no regard, insight into or empathy for the life experience or history of others.

No, we're not actually white. And they're not actually Black. Skin colour comes in 7 million shades in between. Well done for spotting that. I don't understand the relevance of your point though.

Also, re it not being our place, I've always found that a really flacid argument. "Oh I'm not a racist at all, I know 2 Black lads and I don't actively hate them. But it's not my place to speak out against people who do, because I'm white."

If you're anti-racist, then you should speak out against racism wherever you see it. It doesn't matter what colour your skin is. If you support Black people and their rights, then you should speak up.

Now I'm not trying to turn this into a BLM thread. BBC is often used in a positive way (even if I do think its objectifying), and so I don't think the BLM approa is particularly relevant. But to say that we can't talk about what may or may not be disrespectful to Black men is weak and so I had to call that bullshit out.

White male privelege doesn't mean your life has been easy. I am a white woman and I can tell you my life has not been easy at all. We've all struggled and failed a hundred times. You're not special because your life has been difficult. Sorry, but you're not.

But my white privelege means it hasn't been made harder JUST cos I'm white. I fully accept and acknowledge that privelege. I don't feel guilty about it. But I know that I have it.

" We could make the same argument, I mean are we actually white? Look at the colour white, is that the same as our skin colour, so is it PC to refer to a Caucasian/White person as white the same as using black, is that PC?

Please spare us this nonsensical “argument” which is so often rolled out by racists and the “I’m not racist but...” brigade. It smacks of the standard white male privilege that tries to make everything about their life experience with no regard, insight into or empathy for the life experience or history of others. what is white male privilege and please tell me how I have it then as you know my life story? Doesn't exist pal, have I gotten every job I've applied for? No. Did I get my first, second choice for college? No. Was it because of my skin colour or just not putting in enough work. Tell me how that's difficult if I was black with those same results but how I still had a privilege/advantage compared to a black person doing the same?

White male privelege doesn't mean your life has been easy. I am a white woman and I can tell you my life has not been easy at all. We've all struggled and failed a hundred times. You're not special because your life has been difficult. Sorry, but you're not.

But my white privelege means it hasn't been made harder JUST cos I'm white. I fully accept and acknowledge that privelege. I don't feel guilty about it. But I know that I have it.

"

Did I claim I was special, no. Just debating the fact on whether white privilege actually exists, you still haven't proven on how it does or how just being white is a privilege. That in itself is racist if you really think about it. Saying someone is privileged just down to their skin colour.

I wouldn’t get offended however if they changed Latin to irish I would. As would most irish people. You wouldn’t of course because that wouldn’t suit your argument "

Well that's for the Black men to decide what they find disrespectful or not, like how someone can't tell you how to live your life, you decide that. I don't see how that's so difficult for you to understand, you can't tell someone what they can be offended by and what they shouldn't, let them decide that for themselves. I never even claimed I'm not racist but....black friends, so try think of something more original than just discriminating against me and throwing me in with a certain group of people, hypocritical on your part really.

I don't remember saying that Black men should be offended? Also, I think you need to look up the definition of discrimination. "

Well you did because you're debating the fact whether BBC should be used for black men, others have stated they find it offensive and you're on that side of the fence, so therefore you find it offensive or at the very least you haven't disagreed about it not being offensive to black men.

Fair enough but have you met any black men that do? Until you do, you can't know/guess that some may be offended by it. That's the argument I was trying to make, we can't assume someone will be offended by something that doesn't affect us, it's up to the person that the matter relates to and not an external person, whether they find it offensive or not.

I have. I have met and spoken to and read articles by numerous black men and black women and black people who are offended by the fetishisation of blackness in porn and sex positive communities. You could also read these things if you cared to, but I doubt it would change your stance as you're clearly more invested in maintaining the status quo than making the world more inclusive.

I have had this discussion before with black men that I play football with and the dozen lads had no issue with the use BBC or being called black etc, the only thing I've had to debate the whole PC thing regarding black people is with other white people, they seem to think they have a say in the matter on what black people want to be referred to as.

... And so it logically follows that in consideration for those who are offended, we (white people) should not use the term.

I mean.... This whole thread is gas.

I guess what it comes down to is this:

Try not to offend people, be they Black, Disabled, Trans, Queer or otherwise. If you think a certain term might be offensive or hurtful to someone, don't use it. The English language is big. There are other words.

Or, live your life how you want with no consideration for the feelings of others. You have that right.

Reading this whole thread and trying to find the fine lines between whats acceptable and what isn't is virtually impossible.

Every single individual of any sex, race, creed or color will have a different view on what is acceptable when referring to both themselves and others.

The only conclusion I have come to is I'd rather be called a PC snowflake and avoid using terms if I am unsure how offensive someone will find them

"Any term that focuses on a physical attribute regardless of whether it's used in a positive or negative manner has no place in modern society. "

Wait what?? Are you sure you have thought the full extent to what that means true. You would literally never be able talk about anything you like about a person physically, despite the fact you are attracted to things physically about something ?

A LOT of guys who are black use the term BBC. Just like you could say BWC. Whatever it's grand.

Why would you not consider it wrong if it's not physical but say mental or emotional?

I think what he's getting at (and I could be wrong) is that using terms that describe a person as 1 single physical attribute is uncool.

Suppose some clarification would be useful from the person themselves. We can all speculate but there were a few who questioned it.

The thing is these terms are used all over this site.

What I tend to find is others find them more offensive than most who use them. Even fab use some of these 'offensive' terms in profiling.

For me it depends much more about how it's used. Much the same way how people respond to others on forums.

There's tons of those porn expressions, not fan of them myself but I think it's a bit ridiculous to take them too literally especially on a sex site. And just because the word black is involved it's all of a sudden racist issue. Also it depends on the context when using them.

If you read what I said in another comment you might find it easier to understand.

People are more than their body parts so why use adjectives like that to describe anyone.

Anyone who needs to use a term like BBC is playing to stereotype.

I may be drawing from a small research pool but my black friends get annoyed when they are referred to as black men rather than men.

In the same way they get annoyed at stereotypical assumptions based on their colour.

Everyone is free to use whatever terms they like but my point was why use the size and colour of your cock as your USP?

Okay I very much like that you are willing to see from the other side. We can at the very least have meaningful dialogue on this, I see plenty of people here that it's just not possible with.

I would t use these terms even though BBW can be very attractive.

But what if there is a woman who likes that term and everything around it. I guess it's such a grey area sometimes when the group I question might have differnce of opinion. It's a toughy.

I think also it is very rare that seekers of BBC would care little about the person behind. I think they would prefer a lovely person over say, a terrible one.

I completely understand your point. It's impossible to know if someone is going to like being called a BBC before you talk to them, which is why I think it's best to steer clear of using terms like that about someone until you hear them use it themselves. Then you know that they're OK with it.

Or better yet, ask them. If you can't have an upfront conversation with a person you're considering fucking, then you've got bigger problems my friend.

I know that when ask me if they can call me a BBW I find it really respectful, intelligent and attractive. I can only assume that many Black men would have the same reaction in their case.
