I’m just curious about restrictions due to COVID as I’m planning on coming to Dublin for work early December, are bars open? What’s the guidelines? Etc

I know things will change by December, just curious how things are now

Chances of bars being open in December are virtually zero.

Things are shit and likely to get shitter. If you're staying in a hotel you'll be able to get a drink there, can't see anything else being likely.

Shame! Was hoping to arrange a meet and a bar is the perfect social set up.

I mean who goes on a work trip and doesn’t have a play? Haha

Well I can sit and hope, crazier things have happened before

Yeah they've all gone bankrupt by then if they haven't already.

I was out over the weekend. Outdoor upto 15, most places using a booking system, 3 slots per day 2-5 5-8 and 8 till closing. It's some balla but it is what it is and the funny thing is some pubs outside areas, you would be more socially distant inside

Yeah a lot of the places have huge areas inside where social distancing is easy. I guess the benefit outdoors is that it's outdoors and water vapour hangs around less.

I could see in a hotel window on Camden street at the weekend and it was pretty much like a bar inside.

There's always an outdoor or takeaway coffee meet, pray for dry weather

The risk of transmission is apparently far higher indoors, this is why most viruses surge in the winter season

I'm still predicting 4 or 5 by Halloween, level 3 hasn't achieved anything. A lot of people are clearly completely ignoring advice to minimise their contacts.

I'll give my 2 pence worth. I think socialising is a thing that comes naturally to humans. Humans love interacting. We had a 3.5 month full lockdown already and I can only speak for myself, I complied with the rules but all my enjoyments and involvements were gone. Most are gone now again in level 3. It nearly drove me bannanas. I think people are trying to just live life with as much normality as they can.

They are, and this is the result. The government are caught between a rock and a hard place now. More lockdown is going to result in thousands of job losses.

exactly. People are looking for a middle ground and there isn't one. People are sick to the teeth of living a hermit life.i even spoke to a 72yo man the other day. Lives on his own. I'll quote him "I cant do staying in any longer. I'm going out and out and if I get it, I get it".

@OP

Its changing constantly. Cases have increased a lot and the Government and health task force are discussing if to implement the top level 5 restrictions country wide. They are deciding to bring in level 5 in next 10 days to try and reduce cases before Christmas. If we are in level 4 and 5 in December....you will probably be not leaving your hotel except for work!

All the Nphet levels are here.

The vast majority of restaurants and bars are shut. I normally deliver my foodservice product to about 35 bars and restaurants each friday. Last Friday I delivered to 2. ALL the bars close to where I live are shut.

there are 3 open in area where I am as they have outdoor area. I wonder would the government consider a level 5 in some areas and not countrywide?

What happened to céad míle fáilte?

The Google answer to a genuine question was rude and totally unnecessary so op's reaction is understandable although not very sophisticated.

I know of several places with outdoor areas that are shut even. Business needs to be at a certain level to be worth unlocking the door

"I guess in the capital it's easier to reach that level."

Yes, easier to get the business, but the majority of places that are open aren't adhering to regulations because they can't sustain their operating costs on 15 people at a time. Which is adding to the problem.

No judgement tho, I was out for dinner a couple of weeks back in an "outdoor area" (fully covered courtyard with four full walls) that had minimum 40 people in it. Have been laying low since to be responsible.

OP if you're looking for somewhere to go and have a bite to eat and drink you'll find one no problem, use OpenTable to see what's available at your preferred time. Otherwise lots of pubs are doing takeaway pints (without seating), and failing that there's always a coffee and a walk. But if you're staying in a hotel, you're sorted - all their usual services are open to residents.

Im in Killarney and have seen only 1 bar open with people sitting outside. All the bars and food outlets are closed. Most are hoping to open for xmas but are doubtful. If I was you OP , I would be thinking of staying home. Thats not being cruel or rude to you. I have turned down work in UK and parts of Europe. Your health is your wealth buddy.

This work isn’t just a little job unfortunately, but I see what you mean.

Hopefully it can go ahead but if not then I’ll be disappointed
