Lets be honest sometimes this place can be very argumentative about feckin anything

While I don't expect to always agree with everyone I do expect to be able to discuss things in a sometimes heated but fair manner and lately the forum has gone a bit off to be honest

There's a lot of attack the poster instead of the post ...

Then over the last few days something nice happened ...I personally had a bit of a downer on Friday and a huge amount of people sent me messages to ask was I ok and then someone else asked for help yesterday and seemed to get lots of offers

Great to be reminded that there are real people behind the sexy photo's and that as REM once sang

" Everybody Hurts, Sometimes everybody cries"

Anyway you'd think Id have a point to this since You got this far in reading it but all I'll say is more "we're all in this together and not against each other "

One day I'd like to buy a fair few of ye a pint or a short or even splash out on a cake ...stranger things have happened

Ahhhh. This is nice.

I think you're right. Sometimes people take out their frustrations on the forums and react to a post in a way that says a lot more about them than the poster. I know I'm guilty of this. It's something I try to avoid but I'm a hot head and sometimes I fail miserably!

Ah BM this is so true. The forums at the moment seem to be going through a strange phase well I hope it a phase anyhow. But it's been going on a while now. It's like some seem to think if you shout argue and insult loud enough you will make people change their mind about topics .

People waiting just to pounce on others they don't like with insults instead of acting like adults and ignoring them.Even on this thread it has already happened. Which is pretty sad to see when it should be a positive thread.

But thankfully there are still good decent people on here who you can have a bit of craic with or chat to. I know that is the only reason I am still here I've been very close to deleting my account recently.

It's become a lot more about personality clashes. The advice given to newbies used to be "engage in threads that interest you" and the more experienced forumites always claimed they avoided topics that didn't catch their eye.

Recently however there has been a definite increase in op bashing regardless of how light hearted the topic may be.

It's always good to see positive threads and sound advice given even from different viewpoints but there will always be people who don't deserve cake.

Maybe I'm jaded from forums and discussion groups on other platforms where the tone is often blunter and more sarcastic than here.

I actually find most threads on here ok.

I do think a lot of playful or jokey tone is lost, or maybe I just chose to read some of the comments as if they were intended that way and it's me who is missing the intent.

If I can interpret a comment in a positive light, I will

I keep my head below the pulpit these days.. i couldn't be bother trying to reason with some scrote of a troll.. it only leads to a forum ban..

One ban felt great though.. that user is no longer on site..

Juan s#/t is plenty.

I tend to avoid most posts now BM for that very reason as you know. Used to get involved a lot but just too much general piss take or simple ass licking here.

Few listen and read what is said or try to understand the intent behind what's said and just want to air their voice.

I think my first profile was at least 10 years ago and if I had a tenner for each time someone made a similar comment I’d have, well, a lot of tenners

There was and always is an edge to the forum. The chat rooms used to be the place for a bit of craic but the anger and bitterness always leaks out on the forums (fora?)
