"No it will be county by county"

Hopefully that’s all

Another complete blanket lockdown would be a disaster

If the R number cant be brought down, we will be facing lockdown in some more counties. Think we are at 1.7 now. Thankfully there arent as many deaths as before so far. Its worrying though that the goverment are already looking at 2nd quarter of next year in regards to the fact that covid will still be with us then. Also flu season is on its way.

I think we definitely could. I hate the thought of it. I found lockdown back in April really tough and it took me a while to bounce back emotionally. But I'd far rather go into lockdown now than wait until Christmas or even worse - January. We were so so lucky last time that the weather was so good. We could swim everyday, do lots of gardening, go for walks everyday etc. Can you imagine what it would be like in January? The suicide rate would skyrocket.

Some of us were working continuously and didn't get to take advantage of the great weather

It would be an interesting experiment to see what would happen if they closed the schools in Dublin or another county for 3 weeks. I’m convinced it’s been caught in schools and at the school gates and then passed back into the community via families. As an adult I could tell you everywhere I’ve been and everyone I’ve met for the last 2 weeks yet adults presenting with it do t know where they got it. I know they won’t do it cause it’s their stated position that they will keep schools open at all costs. But then irish governments were never ones for making tough decisions!

Well like... When you're working and the weather is nice, you still enjoy it? It's still lovely to have the sun shinning and blue skies, whether you're at work or not. And, in terms of the bigger picture, I wouldn't be complaining that you were working through lockdown. There's a lot of us that would've given anything to be working at the time.

Maybe the people here partying quietly would take this into consideration and reduce their contacts

Not saying u can't meet someone but keep it to one or a Cpl I know every body needs the human touch

If they didn't see the logic of this before, it's unlikely they will now.

Country wide lockdown I can't see happening. I can see dublin going up a level if things don't change by next week. Not sure if people realise how bad that will actually be though

It will depend on how many counties see spikes in the next couple of weeks. It might be groups of counties getting locked down next and if that doesn't stop the rise then it will have to be a full lockdown but that will be the last thing they will try

In a way I think it should be done to try and lower the spread but also think it would be a bad idea as the economy is on its knees already

I reckon it will just be county by county but it is getting a bit out of control at the moment. Some people are just so ignorant to it and don't care. The amount of people still coming into my workplace without masks in unreal and when you say it to them them they just look at you. Some people seriously need to cop on. And people are still meeting on here, wtf?? Rant over.

As of the last 14 day cases per 100 thousand i dont see why the whole country wounld need to go in to total lockdown ,if numbers are low in some counties why would they be punished for high numbers in others , baby out with the bath water if you ask mr

Still if it not highlighted it becomes accepted and accepted behaviour lends to more flouting the restrictions

Maybe true, but if a close relative or friend list a close relative maybe then they will see the pain their actions have contributed to and a wee reminder isn't a bad thing. Some people need a few reminders for some reason.

It probably will happen, I (Mr) think it'll happen before Christmas.

It's already being predicted that there is going to be a massive surge in cases over winter. If you add on top of it again such as people visiting friends and other family members over the holidays and there will definitely be parties organised as well.

A lot of people aren't sticking to guidelines as it is so it will definitely get worse. I seen the video of the guy having a house party and he was asked if he recently went for Covid test, he says yes. They ask was it positive, he says it was and there he is with like 30 or 40 people in his house

What do you propose for the crowd of idiots that had COVID19 parties near you in skerries and the rave party goers in bond street, they were not not school kids. Any county that ignores health advice should be put into lock-down, and if their is particular areas in counties then lock that area down so the genuine people who are well behaved are not made to suffer unless their is a major outbreak in their area.

I think we could see shorter periods of stricter lockdown, especially around Christmas to stop people mixing too many households. Personally I wouldn't mind that too much as I enjoy keeping a low profile at Xmas with my immediate family, but for those with large extended families it would be very tough.
