Can anyone remember their summer jobs from school ??
I had a great summer job when I was 11 , it was my first paying job .
Minding sheep. Yep minding sheep and that’s when my love affair with the woolly creatures started , I know I’m not proud of what it developed in to . Sheep shagging
Tell me I’m not the only one into this |

I had a few jobs, the usual Irish ones:
• picking stones and potatoes
• doing shopping for the neighbors
but the main part time job was being a fuel injection technician at the weekends. |

Was on a building site on a church
Learned to plaster
Could do it right good
Not a chance now
Am self-employed now
Haven't had a young lad or girl look for a summer job in I think 3 yrs
Was thinking of looking for apprentice but don't think anyone will be interested
All young people seem to want to go to college
Pity cause in another 10 years will be very few trades people left |

"I pulled pints at 12, I could hardly be seen over the counter! Wouldn't be allowed these days
You can pull me a pint anytime
A nice, creamy one "
O yes please |

In school worked on a farm, building site, garage, gardening. Worst ever job was spray painting ridge tiles, it was fucking grim. 8 hours straight with a rubber face mask stuck to your face, rotating racks of roof tiles inside a furnace at about a billion degrees, sweating under an inch of paint on your overalls and rubber gloves. Then cycle about 10Km home.
I wouldnt do it again for any amount of money. |

Never had the luxury of being able to get a summer job.
I was a carer from the age of 12 so my first paying job was full time employment when I was almost 20.
Wouldn't have minded a paper round or spud picking or anything like that. |

First summer job working with the local milk man that delivered for premier dairies.
Getting woken by my dad at 5 in the morning to meet the milkman at the top of the road
Getting to drive the electric milk float at 5 miles an hour to Clondalkin like Dougal in that episode of Father Ted.
But my most abiding memory was the clink of the glass milk bottles.
I bought my mum some atrixo hand cream out of my first wage packet cause she always said her hands were too rough from all the housework after the 5 of us |
