Just leaving a meeting in Dunnes Stores Bishopstown
Drove back to Dublin listening to Joe Duffy cutting in and out to Sky news feed on liveline program
There were tvs on the wall near the checkouts in Dunnes...people just abandoned their shopping trollies and food on the conveyors and gathered around
It really was one of those moments you'll never forget

I was in work, heard it coming on the radio and everyone was in shock. Then went on the bus home and listening to it on the radio. Sat at home watching it on TV gobsmacked!
I've been to the site a ground zero a few times and a very humbling location. Must have been terrible for friends and families of victims and first reaponders  |

At home for lunch. I was the only one with sky so all the other flats came to my sitting room and we sat in horror. My brother was in LA and was due to fly to NY at some stage that week and my mother was beside herself that he’d gone early. She couldn’t get him on the phone for like 2hrs. |

Was on a break, put on the telly and honestly thought it was a movie for a few minutes. Terrible tragedy as I had been up in the Towers a couple of months beforehand. |

Mr here. Was serving in the army in Cyprus (took the Queen's Shilling). Once it became apparent what was going on we knew we were going to war.
Subsequently spent the next 7 years on multiple tours of Iraq and Afghanistan. So 9/11 impacted my life directly and continues to do so in a way. |

I was on a relaxing day off work watching snooker when a message flashed up about a place crash in NYC, flicked over to bbc news to see a plane crash into a building... wasn't much relaxing after that |

I was traveling as a passenger in a vehicle from Wicklow to Kildare when a news flash came on radio saying how a plane hit the WTC building and I remember the driver trying to explain what the World Trade Centre Buildings were to me. There was an air of how did a plane hit the building and the belief that it was only a small private plane. I had to carry out a task and when I got back into the vehicle the driver informed me a second plane hit the other building. We both guessed then that this was a planned event. The fear echoed around the world that day, the realisation that no one is safe anymore and I don't think it's ever recovered.

I was 18 at the time and lived in Poland. Went to my nana's after school. I was having lunch downstairs and heard her crying so ran to her room and saw the news. She was terrified as she thaught this will start III World War. She survided II ww and didn't want to go through this hell again. I'll never forget it |

Yes at work and it was on the tv in the little waiting room we had , still remember the horrible feeling that this is happening live and not some movie ....hope we never see the likes again |

Watch it unfold on the TV in the barbers beside where I work knowing my sister was going to work beside the towers around that time it was the longest day of my life |

Can’t remember where I was, probably at home but turned on the news and they were talking about a plane hitting one of the towers when the camera Another plane hitting the second tower. I thought it was a replay first but no, the two towers had been hit. Then to discover another plane hit near the pentagon and a fourth had crash landed after the passengers overcame the hijackers and crashed into a field. The world changed that day |

Had just boarded the pembroke rossdale ferry...
Guy sat near me was chatting to his wife on mobile...you could hear his side of the conversation but wasnt taking it in...
All of a sudden just says a startled you're joking ...caused me to look...just said plane flown into WTC...then my god....another one flown into other tower...
Was time then to locate the on board tv's... |

I was sitting in a pub in a country town, early afternoon as I had just finished the early shift, no one there only myself and the barman watching the raceing, suddenly the door burst open and the publican from across the road ran in shouting "quite switch to sky there is a terrible attack in new York ",the barman switched over just as the second plane hit the tower, the pub began to fill very fast as news of what was happening spread like wildfire |

I was working at Heathrow Airport at the time remember my manager switching the TV on and the whole room went quiet.... we all watching the TV when the second plane hit the second tower it was awful |

I had just started working for a major German airline as an air hostess 4 months prior to 9/11.
I was on a day off at home with my aunt when the terrifying news came on, which we watched in horror, knowing that I was going to have to go on tour the following day...

I was going for my first proper job interview nervous as could be, recruitment agency rings telling me what happened so I'd know in my naivety I was going why is she ringing me about a plane crash in America. Of course on the way home listening to the radio I realised how serious it was. Been a few times since, such an errie place. |

We were supposed to travel up the West coast over the following few days but no hotel room could be booked between Limerick and Sligo since flights were grounded and the US tourists were all stranded along the West Coast. |

I had just woken up at home after a 24h shift. I was very groggy and turned television on and saw a playback of 1st plane crash. Though it was a film so started to watch. I was in such a groggy state that it was only as I started to flick channels I though something odd was happening and only fully realised what was going on when the 2nd plane crashed. |
