Not many hills for us Kildare folk we are rather flat. I am currently doing the Kildare Steptember Walking month which is taking place along our many beautiful canals and towpaths. Clocked up 65km this week along those paths.

Hill are not required for waking, there are many interesting forest & canal trails...who you are walking with is as important as the walk

Download 'Meetup', there are plenty of walking groups about to join if it's just a walk and a chat with folk you're after op

"I saw that meetup app but dont really understand it do you just turn up or is there a way of getting to know people before hand "

You make yourself a profile and then favourite the groups offering the types of activities that interst you. Then join whichever groups you like, and one added you just put yourself down as 'going' whenever you see something to do that takes your fancy. You can message the group and make your introductory tions there beforehand

Somewhere in Co. Down

A walking group would be good as long as it was for actually walking.

Ha yeah, the only difference between a walking group and a wanking group is one letter so be careful which one you sign up to
