It's pathetic! Open the wet pubs!

I'd love to see the figures of covid-19 infections transmitted by tourist, but of course those stats we'll never see, they keep those figures locked up in the cupboard.

somewhere

Mountain out of a molehill to be honest

Restaurants keep their receipts anyway...no difference

If 6 people are eating you don't need to know who has what ....the receipts

( till rolls ) are kept for 6 yrs anyway for vat purposes

Pubs serving food the exact same thing no extra paperwork no extra work

What they are trying to stop is the pubs not serving food but keeping receipt books as if they have served food or the ones that are serving unlimited pints and a pizza from the chipper next door for 9 euro.

East / North, Cork

The implementation of this was done assways, and the legislation was unclear. It wasn't until today we realised that all that's needed is 1 name from easy party on the bill/receipt. and that's enough to meet the legislation. It doesn't need to be itemised per person. It's simple.. it was the shitty communications that caused a big kerfuffle.

It's just another rule that makes them look like they're doing something. Diverting our attention from the facts.

Ireland

Pubs have themselves to blame with the carry on of some, take the 1 in Dublin with the guy on the counter, the carry on in Skerries served the drink in 2 pubs, the scenes in Kerry drink supplied from the pubs. Those pubs have made it very hard for others in the drink trade. A classic case of shooting themselves in the foot, It's very hard to sympathize with them when we witness the stupid carry on helped by some pubs ignoring the rules.

well the berlin bar , was actually a private party, and the facts was the didn't do a lot wrong, just appeared really bad(not a justification) and skerries is just a bunch of muppets that happen to work in the bars. But again as a government they focus on 2 small issues and turn the cheek golfgate/meat factories/direct provision centres.

I don't question who thinks of this stuff, that takes one idiot. Who the hell approves, that takes a meeting of several idiots. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at those meetings.

You can't blame and punish the whole sector for the few ones that act irresponsible. I'd argue the government should have never split pubs into two groups and come up with that stupid 9 Euro meal deal. It's designed to cause division, the usual divide and conquer tactics. It is obvious that some owners will find ways to work around the restrictions to serve (just) drink.

I understand that drink and social distancing are not compatible, but you're not going to solve the issue with a 9Euro compulsive feeding act. They should have come up with one set of comprehensive and strict rules for all.

Anyone would be forgiven for thinking that they are trying to kill the trade. All they needed to do was open the pubs as normal and just have the same table service in the "wet" pubs as,the "dry" ones. Same rules, time limits and no congregating or standing at the bar.

Waterford City

I suspect this has more to do with tax revenue than covid. A record of what a person ate makes no difference to covid but it does to the tax man if we've paid with cash.
