It was a single lady saying she was a producer or some role simular saying they wanted to do a documentary and interview swingers. Can't remember the profile name though.

Id imagine the guy in the jacuzzi with the woman that looked like scary spice was dying for Siobhan to leave.
I felt sorry for the couple that felt they were ignored but was glad they went back in to have sex in the same room as the others

Single woman, a stripper and emotionally scarred
Single male emotionally scarred
Old woman gang r4ped at a young age, psychologically scarred yet wanting multiple men at once
1 couple socially awkward and crying because they didn't get to play
1 middle aged couple seemed ok and didn't play.
A couple of scary dominatrux type older women.
Empty club said 200 a night, couldn't have been 40 at it. I know cameras would have put a lot of people off but can't help thinking it hinted at those who are somehow 'damaged' turn to swinging. |

Personally I didn't enjoy it and thought it was naff. I've been to the club and it is a whole lot nicer than portrayed on the programme.
Why start with a messy room and picking up dirty condoms, typical of channel 4 I expect looking for the negative and trying to portray swinging as seedy.
It was rather boring to watch. |

I dodnt watch it so can't comment on the content.....
But in general if I want a genuine view on a subject or community a Channel 4 documentary would not be my first stop. |

It was very disappointing. For the money that he says he spent on it, it looked cheap and tacky.
The owner did say a lot of positive things though about the lifestyle.
I had never heard of the club before compared to chams, townhouse or le boudoir which makes me wonder how popular it is in the uk. |

To be fair it didn’t do the club justice. Think because it was well known that they would be filming that night it put a lot of people off attending. You know how judgemental people are. Unfortunately it really didn’t show the club in it’s true colours. No where near enough people and not enough focus on the club and how good a social night it can be. Probably because it wasn’t as busy as it can be. Just focused on the sex and unfortunately came across as a bit awkward and sleazy. Not Libs at all!
Unfortunately because it wasn’t as busy it couldn’t show the true variety of characters that attend and that it’s not just about having sex. Well not with us it’s not. That’s what we mean by variety. Yes you might have sex with others but might not.
We have attended a few clubs and Libs is in our top 2 along with Secrets. If in doubt, don’t judge by this documentary. Check it out yourselves, we think you will then see it in it’s true colours. Their event nights are great and it really is a great night out. Just don’t go there with an attitude just to have sex. It’s way more than that. Thanks Libs hope the refurbishments are nearly finished. Love you and can’t wait to be able to stay with you for our long weekend escape again. G & J x |

I agree. I think the club was a good representation. But the people no. It showed the broken side of swinging. I.e people with emotional baggage. The vast majority of swinging couples in clubs are fully sane. And that’s why I go to clubs. You know exactly what you are getting!

I totally agree. That’s why I love swinging. It’s the cultural diversity and the variety of people. I’ve meet teachers, accountants, barristers the works. |

One of the things being mentioned on the thread in the UK forum is because of the big storm in the UK on the night,a lot of couples never made it to the club.
I presume that made a big difference ,Ive never been in a club so have nothing to compare it too

Do a club tour. I do it regularly. I fly into Luton and go to Vanilla alternative on a Friday then Saturday another club. And finish in Chams on a Sunday. Great fun!! |

That's chsnnel 4 true to form.
Their shows about swingers, brothels, strippers , etc, are all very bare and focus on the more tired segment of the scene.
Ok...no club I've been to was "eyes wide shut" but there is a bit of class to be found

We watched it. It us a great club but sadly the programme didn't give that impression. They had obviously got hold of a few members who were happy to be filmed purely for the programme. Libs was packed on Valentines day with a fantastic atmosphere, the programme gave the impression that there were only about 20 people there. |

Like all media, Channel 4 decided in advance how the lifestyle and club would be portrayed. Negative, grotty and dysfunctional was chosen. Anyone who believes newspapers and tv portray an honest view on anything is beyond delusional. That show was as honest a portrayal as any front page of the Sunday World. |

If you know anything about how TV is made they'll have staged the whole thing. From the build up with Valentine dec's to the clientele. They may have filmed interiors on a quiet afternoon with some clients and added a few actors - those on the bed not interviewed.
Every interaction will be stage managed.
Eg. In the 'crying' couples home: him vacuuming, her picking up some kids toys. Absolutely staged. That house was like a new pin when the TV company arrived, as yours would be.

It was definitely an interesting experience. We thought channel 4 did alright. Definitely not the worst documentary on the topic - though we weren’t keen on some of the language. The girl who was upset at being excluded obviously has some confidence issues which I think she needs to work on but she will also need to accept that not everyone is going to be attracted you.
If you go with no expectations then you won't be disappointed if fun doesn't happen.
The older lady good on her she had a terrible experience which she was obviously very traumatised by but shes turned things around and is now enjoying sex on her terms and no one else's
The two most grounded were the younger guy & younger female who seemed to understand the whole aspect of swinging .
its all about the fun with no expectations! |

Will definitely check it out, should be an interesting listen.
Like others, I thought it would have been much busier but I've read from Moreno's posts that Storm Dennis put paid to that.
We've never been to a club and I think, in my head anyway, I had this ultra glamorous image of it so for me it was good to have that demystified.

Yes - at least I think we were well dressed! My wife has blonde hair and I have glasses (sounding like guess who, now). I was wearing braces if that helps... |

Yes you are Mr Grammar police with a love of , and a passion for ; You were both well dressed Mrs had a lovely all in one V plunging neckline dress on. See you guys are exactly what clubs are all about. Mrs was well dressed, sane and you had your ground rules ironed out before entering the club. Move forward to the Mrs And her tattoos I never would have guessed she had them. And that’s what I love about clubs! |

1 couple socially awkward and crying because they didn't get to play

Empty club said 200 a night, couldn't have been 40 at it. I know cameras would have put a lot of people off but can't help thinking it hinted at those who are somehow 'damaged' turn to swinging."
Gotta agree pretty much with all your points,,,it wasnt the greatest endorsement to go out and try a club,,,
Fortunately for us we've been to a lot of really good clubs in the Uk and around Europe so we know this was'nt typical of most clubs,, |

Not sure if it was us or did channel 4 try to make out that most swingers have come from broken relationships or had some sort of trauma leading then to swinging and giving up up on "normal" relationships. Could only watch 35 mins of it before we switched off . Or did it get more possitive toward the end .
Someone commented on another post that the number of people looking to join the lifestyle would increase i d say after that programme it is likely to decrease. Was enough to put any newby's off |

That young couple...she was crying as she thought no one wanted her in the club. Kind of indicated she wasnt ready for swinging if that was her reaction to rejection.
Dunno....CH4 twist on things....bound to have happened in all fairness.

It was me who used the term damaged ( which is horrible)
But that couple will never last. She was the boss and defo had issues.
Poor Siobhan is all’s I would say.
The single guy was the only sane one on it and in full control ( that’s my Male view, I seen a lot of myself in him)
I wonder was the single lad and single lady placed deliberately

I met Martyn last September on the first day of his holiday in Gran Canaria, he's a great guy, he was pretty new to the scene, yes he was shy at first and had lost confidence from previous relationships but haven't we all at some stage in our lives.
I introduced him to some of the bars and clubs over there and we had a great holiday.
He's being true to himself, his family and friends and all power to him for that.

I can relate to a lot that went on in the show.
I have come across all that happened in one form or another over thr years.
Its never going to be easy for any tv maker to tackle the subject for a general audience |

Documentary aside, I have very fond memories of Libs as the first club I visited in the UK.
It was busy, but not overly so, a Friday night mid summer. It's an unusual club in that it has a lovely private outdoor space out the back to be enjoyed if weather permits.
Very friendly welcoming respectful crowd. Loved the wetroon with massive jacuzzi (not portrayed well in the docu as the lighting is much softer in reality)
Loved the fact you could stay onsite with a short stroll to the bottom of the garden. Basic but functional accommodation which I believe has been upgraded since.
Actually had more fun in the chalets after the club had closed than in it!
Would thoroughly recommend.
Before Covid I believe they ran regular hot wife club nights |

The aspect I felt that let people down that were disappointed that they didn't "play" with anyone is they went to the Club with the wrong attitude. When we attend a club, social or private party we go with the intention that it's a social event and if we come away at the end of the night/morning with just a phone number we consider it a great evening. It's a win win if we play but not a prerequisite.

We just watched the documentary and found it very disappointing. It portrayed all the negative stereotypes that have clung to the lifestyle and seems to have set the whole non-monogamous lifestyle back 20 years.
If we had watched this at the very beginning of our journey, we would never have tried anything.
Channel 4 deliberately set out to portray swingers as either damaged or socially dysfunctional people, as opposed to a modern perspective on the lifestyle.

We took part in the show. Having spent time with the producer/director we honestly believe that was not their intention. The concept was much more (at least when we spoke to them) around the fact that everyone and anyone could be swingers. We’re also hoping that we didn’t come across as dysfunctional- but what’s there is there.
Sadly many of those negative stereotypes in the show still exist. And some of the language was problematic. We spoke at length about some of the good stuff but not all of it was included (but equally it wasn’t our show). We aren’t keen on the venue - but that’s something else.
The good news is that New people have been reaching out to us over the last 24 hours - so it hasn’t put too many off. Overall, we reckon this will help to normalise non monogamy - even if it’s just to get people talking about it. What we need are more dramas, tv shows, films, entertainment that cover it and make it normal. Otherwise the stigmas will always be there.
Also - our initial meets had us almost calling social services to support a woman in trouble and, in another instance, one of us nearly getting punched. And we’re still here - plugging away. Hoping that some new folks have a level of resilience as well! |

It's regretful that still today that the lifestyle we choose is still not accepted by main stream media and general society, even though they claim to be accepting of every faith, sexual oriatation and gender. It may take many more years before the lifestyle may be accepted in both Ireland and the UK

The Ch4 documentary has to be wrong because it contradicts what the experts think on here . And we all know that can't be allowed to happen

I've never been to libs and not if i'd want to I was very disappointed that there was only one actual swap shown. It did have the classics apart from the single guys -:
The hot younger singles.
The poor older lady reading all the signs wrong. Which in reality would be a single guy.
The rejects, who no one wanted to play with.
And the chatters, spent all night chatting and not actually playing.

This was the 1st club we ever went to.
I was a bit anxious at 1st but was made to feel very welcome.
We have been back several times since and have said we would like to go back again in the future
I don't think the show done the club justice and it left lot of positive things out |
