We used to have such a laugh in the chatroom on other sites. We could get to know people a little better, swap banter and have teasy cam fun in the room. So I was wondering is there a particular nite that the fab Ireland chatroom is busier. Or even if our regular forumites (I stole the term) would like to pick a nite and meet up there?

I use to use the chat room quite a lot a few months ago but not recently. It can be good craic. |

It used to be busy at the weekend when I first joined fab but has just gotten quieter as people have moved to Kik or WhatsApp groups instead. It did pick up a bit at the start of lockdown but has slowed down again. |

Long answer - sorry - to a short but a very good question.
Speaking from my own experience, the Chat rooms are much quieter these days. As I understand it, this mainly due to the fact that children are:
a) not at school (even pre-Covid Fab used to be quiet in summertime).
b) older ones aren't going to cinemas/clubs/pubs so the adults are not free to play without fear of interruption.
c) Uni students are at home to save on wasteful rent
and, sadly,
d) daughters & sons are at home furloughed/laid off or, at best, working from home.
I only pop in every now and then but there are a number of regulars who frequent the Irl room and they seem to know each other well, which, to me, is a good sign. However; all it takes is someone new, usually immature male 'God's gift' types who don't take no for an answer, to make an unwelcome comment and it ruins the chat for everyone. I think that is common for all rooms but it's more noticeable and damaging in the less populated rooms such as the Irl room.I dunno if having more Irish mods would resolve or even prevent those instances, but Fab seems to struggling to get people to volunteer as mods.
On an old site, now defunct, I used to chat with others in a Trivia Room. The site had a Bot that trotted out rapid fire trivia questions. If you typed your answer before everyone else you got a point.The beauty of that was good clean fun but it allowed chat without anyone having to force a topic and you got to gradually know people and then if the parties were attracted, you could move on to another level (possibly one with good dirty fun )with the relationship.
I enjoyed the teazy banter there too and, seeing as we still don't know when (if ever) the current situation is going to change for the better, I wonder if Trivia room or some other Fabswingers games type chat room might generate some fun and give folks a reason to come on Fab on a particular night - what do ye think of that suggestion?

Used to be on the chat room nearly every night myself just for a bit of craic and banter. They used to be very active but have since become very quiet, I’d assume this is all to do with the reasons listed above. Hopefully they will return to full steam sooner or later, really enjoyed the craic in them and made some really good friends from them too!  |

Bog M, that's a much simpler & obviously more effective way of doing it than my suggestion. It's also more suited to a site like Fab too

I used them a bit but they're hit and miss.
I think the layout and whatnot needs to be changed to. It's one of the many things fab needs to update, it's very outdated |

we update i did go in last nite for a few hours and it was a game of two halves lol
Camera off i was invisible, literally no one acknowledged me
Camera on loads of chat and a few laughs.
Thats understandable, people interact better with a real person than a profile. Suppose if u had it on a few times people would get to know u and chat regardless.

Used to be there nearly every night. We would just login while watching TV in the evenings.
I think the death of it was when most people switched to phones, from laptops. It's a crappy experience on mobile. |

Yeah it needs a revamp. Actually I'd say fab really needs an app with a chat function built in. |

We pop in now and again, it has its moments and its uses. We even managed to arrange very pleasant meets a couple of times through interaction in the chatroom.
Went in this morning and saw that there was 70 people in the Irish chatroom. Thought it can only mean one thing if there's that many people in at 7.30.....boobies!!! |

What most people don’t seem to realise is before going into chat room, click on desktop and large cameras and it turns phone into laptop, can zoom to make room bigger to see all chat. And can view cameras from phone if wanted to ....
As some one who uses chat room for years
Like on forums you get what you put in.

I have used the Ireland Chatroom regularly throughout the years of being here under different disguises. I always found it a great way to get to know people in Ireland as I travel over every month on business so makes sense to go in and chat....Great Craic |

We were regularly popping in on cam up until very recently. However Lucy was constantly being hounded by people directing, so we've knocked it on the head. We felt like we were ruining the vibe in there for the regulars by attracting some annoying types to the Irish room. |

I go on them sometimes but find the same thing as a few others because I don't cam it's not that great. But in saying that i tried to set up a cam there a few times to give it a go and it would work for me . I don't have a laptop, i'm not the best at technology i think if fab made it easy to just turn on your cam i might go on there more often.  |

We love popping in when we have nothing else planned and have a night to ourselves.
Love little chit chats.
It really does depend on who's online though.
You can either have a great night, bore yourself to sleep or get frustrated with the pushy wanky brigade and leave (happens very rarely) |

I pop in randomly and love a good chat with some very friendly regular chatters some nights can be fun but I have found that sometimes I've been on cam and no one acknowledges me so I pop off again! Now rarely cam in chatrooms ....I have found a good lot of ppl move to kik to chat! |
