Saw people on a news article talking about this today but when do you isolate? If I woke in the morning with a touch of a soar throat or cough, or a sniffle, nothing major, do u automatically isolate or wait a day or 2 and see does it leave?

Ring your GP to organise your test and they'll tell you what to do...just ring don't visit

that's not what I mean. U could have a touch of a sniffle or ticily cough. Most people will just go about their daily life with little symptoms like that. Should you automatically isolate with any flu like symptom no matter how minimal they are?

I would because its easy enough to isolate and organise a test.

Id imagine the problem with most people is that its normal to feel a bit shite every now and then so you might feel it's a waste of time and money

I would contact my gp with my symptoms regardless of what and get advise from gp. And get a text.

Its not even about isolation or having the test really as you say thats the easy part. Alot of people will be in a situation where work will only allow so many sick days before the warning procedure is started. Coming into the cold and flu season is going to be a tough call.......are the companies going to be more lienient?

Isolated immediately

Tested after a few days

Isolated until results (negative as expected)

Symtoms are symtoms

Ask yourself not do i have it. But this. Can i afford to pass this to someone i know or am close with that could be vulnerable

Met a man yesterday not isolating. Jesus you have a cough I said. "I have that with weeks" he said. Just a ticily aul thing. That's what I'm talking about, most people need to actually be sick to isolate.

I got the virus back in March, it started as a headache and fever. I self isolated straight away but didn't call the doc for 2 days as didnt have a cough. If you feel unwell with flu like symptoms headache, chills, sweats, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste isolate and call the doctor. Dont wait for a cough, I didn't get one till day 9.

Not me but someone close to me had covid back in march. Still on constant antibiotics for chest now and his lung capacity has deteriorated alarmingly. His Dr says not enough is known about after effects but safe to say I've seen a huge deterioration in my friends quality of life post infection. 5 months on and his health is worsening not recovering as expected. Tough on a guy who used to run marathons and now can't walk up a flight of stairs without getting breathless.

Isn't it amazing the symtoms are advertised in all the major media outlets and the procedure to deal when u notice that u have them. But yet people don't ring a gp and seek professional help they ask not only on her but fake book,Instagram, and other social media

Follow the guidelines if u have any combination of the following

Tickly cough

High temp

Headache

Loss of smell or taste

Ring your GP and follow his/her advise

Ring your employer and tell him you are feeling unwell and the advise ur GP gave is to self isolate and to get tested. They can not start any warnings or terminate. I'd imagine they would appericate it more that u in so far as u could protected them and ur work colleagues

Once ur diagnosed with covid and u don't have a sick pay scheme u are entitled to €350 if the guys in the meat factories knew this they may have come forward before infecting so many

I'd put money on it the vast majority of people if woke in the morning with a slight tickly cough or a sniffle will get on with their day as normal. If day 2 comes and they get worse, they then will isolate and phone doc.

And I'm sure the bosses of the meat factory knew all that too but still the threat of sacking them was still there

About 3 weeks ago I was feeling unwell. Anything I ate or drank was passing straight through my body. I didn’t have any of the advertised symptoms of Covid. After 2 days I rang my GP and he said that he was sending me for Covid test as the symptoms I had rare but could still be Covid. I had rang him at 09.30. Got a call from test centre by 11.00 to inform me to be there for 14.00. I did that and had all clear results by 10.30 the following morning.

As regards work...... I’m in a lucky position that I have wonderful employers. For those of you who don’t...just keep them informed of what’s happening. Keep all receipts, invoices and any evidence that you can to prove to your employer that you were ill and being tested. Don’t worry about work disciplinary issues for now, as these can be dealt with later and you’ll have evidence to prove your case.

Go get tested.... your health and that of your loved ones is what matters now.

that post is interesting. You had none of the outlined covid symptoms, prob a bug yet you were still sent for testing. Just goes to show if you're sick at all now, with anything, you could be tested.

"I read advice that may now be out of date but you were to ring your GP I'd you had any 2 of the symptoms"

It's now any one, my daughter had a mild temperature and is being tested today, so I'm also isolating (and my son) until she hopefully gets a negative result. I told my doc I suspected a mild tummy bug but she said anyone with any symptom on the list is being referred. She also said there have been positive cases from referrals who presented with just diarrhoea.

Which is doubtless why most tests are returning negative. What's it going to be like when kids return to school and the annual round of colds and tummy bugs start?

Then again, no doubt the people self-diagnosing something else and not bothering to ring doc are contributing to the current rapid spread. Let's face it, self-isolating, especially for an entire household, is a massive pain in the arse.

I had diarrhoea.....Dr. said it’s fairly rare but it could be Covid. He said “let’s not take any chances “ and made appointment for testing straight away.

also the ones travelling away to a country where you have to isolate on return are telling employer they taking the annual leave but staying put in ireland cause some employees are saying if you travel the 2 week isolating your not entitled to payment on return so they telling them they not going away to avoid it. Just August is peak holidays another reason maybe the virus raising

I was sick and had symptoms for about 16 days, breathing alone was like torture. After I got better, the shortness of breath and fatigue stuck around for a good 2/3 weeks but "luckily" I didn't have a job to go back to at the time.

6 weeks on, my hair started to fall out. Doc did bloods and was all normal but he said hairloss sometimes happens after an illness. That's stopped now, luckily I had alot of hair to start with as I lost about half of it over the course of a month .

Hoping thats the end of it at this point. The covid denyers really piss me off, I'm 29 and in good health and this is what happened to me with a "mild" case. I wouldn't like to see what it could do to someone more vulnerable than me, would you?

Currently the advise is do not enter a work place, isolate at home & get a test organised...over the winter we will all have sympthoms that previously we would have dis regarded but not now.

Also this year get the u vaccine.

We're told in work if we have any symptoms at all not to come in and contact our gp immediately.

It's affecting people differently. Some people are getting severe symptoms while some have a barely noticeable cough. It's better to be cautious rather than take a risk and go to work or go out and potentially spread it

You will have a high temperature sore throat ball busting head pain and zero appetite. When this fucker hits you won't forget it. If you have a good immune system you can fight it at home with fluids and patience and panadol. but if not you will need hospital care.

A good waterproof mattress cover too because you will sweat buckets. Good luck
