The only way Vodafone can lock it again is if you send it to get repaired and the repairs company put the network lock code back on while upgrading the software. Or as above if its stolen |

Without your permission, no
European law change was one of the big drivers behind networks having to offer you the option of unlock after a specific period of time |

If its out of contract then Vodafone are obliged to facilitate unlocking on request. |

no vodafone is not able to lock it but if you use the vodafone sim again and system code will run settings then it will be locked again.
if its stolen it definitely will be locked to use any network in Ireland unless you change the whole firmware and system code....which costs you nearly same as buying the new phone |

What if I use the Vodafone sim again on a different phone? Its likely that I will be giving the phone back to the employer also and I'd rather give them the older phone. |

In which case Vodafone will not unlock it. Depending on the model you may be able to aquire an unlock code online, or failing that you could use one of the repair shops many of whom offer unlocking services. What model phone is it? |

Its a phone repair shop that would unlock it as id have to go through work otherwise to get it unlocked. |

So am i correct in saying if I get it unlocked and the phone sim is used in another phone then Vodafone shouldn't lock the new phone? |

Just something worth considering given the high value of ur phone.
Unlocking a phone which is still under contract will void ur Samsung 2yr warranty if done in an non authorised repair store.
From our experience, Samsung give excellent follow up guarantee on their handsets. |

so i tried a different Sim in it today from a different phone provider and it didn't stop me from accessing the sim or making a call.Does this mean the phone is already unlocked?
I upgraded this phone from work about 2 or 3 months ago.Is it unusual for Vodafone to have a new upgraded phone already unlocked? |

How do you mean download the setting? I just plugged the personal sim into it and it worked. |
