Came across a video on YouTube about a TikTok craze apparently going on at the moment.
It's people from all over the world Irish dancing to contemporary songs.
Now we have people claiming Cultural Appropriation and that anyone not of Irish decent shouldn't be allowed to take part.
And the real mental thing about it all is that no Irish people are complaining, it's all them SJW dopes in America.
Dafuque is going on? |

As a SJW dope, let me drop some truths l about cultural appropriation.
Cultural appropriatuon only applies to minorities. When a community is recognised as a minority, then their culture is afforded a level of protection that other cultures aren't (because non-minoroty cultures don't need protection in the first place).
Appropriation comes into play when people who are not from a particular minority use that minorities culture inappropriately. For example, wearing an native American headdress for Halloween. The symbol of that headdress is taking extremely seriously by that culture and its people. As they are a minority and their culture is protected, it shouldn't be used for fun by people outside the community.
To go ahead and use it anyway displays
1. A lack of understanding and awareness
2. A lack of respect of the minority
3. A lack of empathy for people in minority groups
4. A belief that you, as a white person, have some kind of entitlement to do whatever you like and nobody can stop you
People who talk about cultural appropriation don't lack a sense of humour, as so many people say. They simply understand that there are plenty of ways to be funny as fuck that don't involve dispecting minority communities or their heritage. If you can't find a way to be funny without doing this, I'd suggest you're actually not funny at all and are probably just very unintelligent.
In this case with the Irish dancing, I don't think it counts as cultural appropriatuon since Irish people aren't a minority! Some people are just dopes, SJW or not! |

Jesus lads relax.
I was just saying how mad it is that one group of people, a group that were offended by white bread, are getting offended on behalf of another group of people who don't give a shit. |

That's the thing. All I read was reasons to put barriers up between different groups of peoples.

"All I read was reasons to put barriers up between different groups of peoples.

No. Culture is shaped solely on experience. That means that different groups of people have different cultures, based on their unique shared history.
This isn't an opinion. It's a fact. And just because some people cannot be bothered to take the feelings/struggles of minorities into account doesn't make it not a fact. It makes them ignorant.
To say that everyone is the same is laughable. The very idea of a "human culture" is actually ludicrous.
I would strongly suggest logging out of fab and opening a history book. You've got lots to learn |

You just totally missed the point of my original post though.
All I said was that it's crazy that people are getting offended on behalf of the Irish when the Irish don't care.
It was a point on the fact that there are people out there who just want to be offended by anything, even though it doesn't affect the people they're offended for. To me that's an SJW, and those are the people I was referring to.
People who speak up and stand up for real issues like Racism, Sexism etc. get my full support.
You just went all out attack mode.
Anyhow, no hard feelings |

Oh no, I fully got what your point was, which is why at the end of my reply I said some people are just dopes, SJW or not.
And I definitely didn't go on attack mode. This was me being quite friendly and calm lol
I was just pointing out that you said a stupid thing, which is exactly what you're saying about someone else, and made a suggestion in case you might be open to learning some actual facts about an issue you're bitching about on the internet.
It's funny how it's always the people who slag off the SJWs who are the most easily offended. |

Who's offended?
I made an observation and poked fun at the lunacy of it. It wasn't a rant. And it definitely wasn't bitching.
I mean, at no point did I belittle the concept of Cultural Appropriation and what it means to certain folk.
All I was saying is that it's mad how people are claiming Cultural Appropriation on the behalf of others who don't care about the so called offensive act in the first place, creating an issue where there is none. All the while we have real issues going on all over. Surely we can agree on that? |
