also, according to the song, its a long way to Rome.
why on earth would they draw comparisons with this italian city?
is it not equally, a long way to pakistan, australia or china?
surely, if you were to make tipparary seem closer, and thusly a more rewarding trip, you would choose a destination outside of europe to compare distances.
like so:
its a long way, to tipparary, but its infinitaly closer than having to travel to the peoples democratic republic of china.
ok, i appreciate its not as catchy, and there would have to be a few tweaks to the tune, but i reckon, if we tried, we could get it to work.... |
