Today I bought 4 hens to add to my collection of 3 cats and a dog. I'm also strongly considering rescuing some old donkies to keep my field under control. I know it might seem a bit much and I do get a lot of shit about it from everyone I know. But honestly, I'd live on a petting farm if I could!

Other animal lovers - tell me about your furry/fluffy/feathered friends and what it is you love so much about them. Make me feel like I'm not the only one!

I'm exactly like this, my dream is to win the lotto and open an animal sanctuary

Sadly for now the furry cows next door will have to do as my adopted pets.

We have loads of foxes here but all of my neighbors have chickens. They protect them by putting chicken wire under the ground beneath their run to make sure the foxes can't dig up underneath the run.

No we didn't get rescues because our next door neighbour is a breeder and giving them to us for free. Starting off with just 4, but if it goes well we'll rescue some more.

Fair play. I hope the cats and chickens get along!

Back home we always had donkeys to keep the grass under control. They're super docile and friendly compaired to sheep or cattle. Plus Ass puns never get old lol

Have you thought about having an alpaca. You can shear them every summer. Their wool when woven makes great pullovers. Also they will keep foxes away from the hens

How much space have you graze. A pair might be a better option. Company for each other. There are a good few herds in Ireland where you can purchase stock. Good luck wherever you decide to do
