I see that the Tampax ad with the much copied slogan " get them up there girls " has been banned.
Reading some of the complaints online and it's hard to believe its 2020.and not 1920.
Unbelievable that yet again periods equate to sex according to some of the complaints and a woman actually complained that it was embarrassing to watch with her 2 teenage daughters.
Bloody Hell

I hope those two daughters have a better female role model in their lives who's confortable talking to them about periods and sex and give them the info that they need. Cos that woman certainly won't be! |

What a load of codswollop!
Typical backwards Ireland. That ad was no doubt to help girls like that mother's two daughters cause she's too embarrassed to speak about bodily functions to her own kids!!
This is a really sad day for the country, one step forward 20 back! |

Different slant on the topic, but amusing methinks.
Another ad that was banned was for Le Coq Cocktails. It featured a man standing by a fridge, bare-chested and wearing shorts.
The fridge door is open and the shelves inside are filled with bottles of different LeCoq Cocktails.
The guy was drinking one of the cocktails by the neck and the text underneath read:
'Taking a sip from my first coq*! .."

No problem with the subject matter of the add but I just thought the talk show format and the canned laughter and cheering was in bad taste. Watching it with my daughters was a cause for amusement rather than embarrassment. |

Have to agree, on seeing it first I did giggle like a little schoolgirl but it does become less funny when you take into account that they're trying to educate....and sell a product, ha
Where do you go to complain about it being taken OFF the air, surely if more people complain about it being taken OFF air than being on the air, it would get the ad reinstated? |

I found it funny but definitely not offensive. Every woman that has used them can relate to the uncomfortable feeling of them not being inserted properly. I can't understand why a mother would feel awkward in front of her daughters though. I would hope if I had daughters id be able to talk to them about anything. I know I can with my son |

I can't be the only man on here that as a teenager got sent to the shops by a girlfriend to buy them.
I always waited till the bloke in my local spar was on the till and not the woman.

Saw it was banned and some complaints were about people saying it was offensive to think some women don't know how to insert a tampon. *eyeroll. It was light-hearted and informative; people seem to complain about anything these days. Mrs x |

Wouldn’t have banned it. Honestly I found it uncomfortable to watch With both male and female sexes. I don’t have a problem admitting to being uncomfortable about it. That’s what the remote is for. |

Exacty the right attitude to have about something you're uncomfortable to watch...use the remote not write in to stop other people seeing it

"I never found it offensive but my god it was annoying as hell. Each time I changed my tampon I said it in my head "
It's one of those sayings that will be going for a very long time I'd imagine |

The whole point of that ad was based on research that a lot of girls didn't know how to properly use the product which makes it even more pathetic that it got banned in Ireland! Yes it was cringy but hey ho the nay sayers need to get over themselves. Periods are embarrassing for young girls to talk about so having a giggle about a stupid ad was actually a good talking point for a lot of parent's. Laughter is a great way to ease the embarrassment. |

Agreed 100%. I think the ad was actually very clever in the way it was cheesy and informative at the same time. And it's a public health issue affecting half of the population. |

I don't think the ad would win any awards for production or anything but why the fuck is it so offensive to talk about something natural half of the planet go through . It's far cringier to ban the advert than watch it . Utterly shambolic in this day and age for such regressive attitudes to dictate what should be on the tv .
Girls I'm sure sometines will not get the info they need from their mothers and it's most likely very daunting as a young girl to ask about what could be perceived as embarrassing when young . If some tv advert helps them then great .
It's not as if they are selling massive dildos and saying get then up there girls ffs. |

Wow, really. Don’t care, just making my comment from my perspective. Don’t think I offended anyone but it did give you a chance to use some big words. Well done! |

Some people need to get out more. My daughter saw it and thought it made it more acceptable to discuss. We're in 2020 we should be able to be discuss natural bodily functions but God love the snowflakes who are offended by what is natural |

I'm sure there are plenty of women and young women that found the add helpful. even if the add was banned Tampax are getting a hell of a lot of free publicity. also with all the hype people will look at it online, really pointless and backward upholding the complaints |

To ban it was mental.
Its a fact of life, it was a cringy ad, possibly should have been done or filmed in a different way but maybe that was the intention of it, theres far more cringy ads in the tv.
The idea behind it was spot on. |

banned because of 84 complaints, had to go and watch this ad WTF its 2020... I would have loved ads like this when I was younger the world has gone mad if this is what offends people in this day and age |

Apparently the complaints were mainly female and from varying age groups.
People choosing to be offended.
And well in this day and age if you choose to be offended, someone or something else must be to blame. |

Agree 100% - don't know if it's a superior or inferior complex that causes it though - mrs. |
