Waterford City

I've had meets all over Ireland but only when I've been there for something else. Never travelled too far specifically to meet someone.

I see nothing wrong with both parties travelling. Nothing to do with being a gent. If you've been chatting long enough and built trust and the lady is confident that the man is going to turn up it's perfectly fine to expect each to make a similar effort.

It's the same with sharing the cost of an hotel room.

Some ladies are uncomfortable with the man paying so if they offer to go halves then why not?

Mutual respect.

I agree it's about mutual respect. The same as going halfs for hotels or lunch. The onus should never be on one of ye to make all the effort.
