COVID-19 UPDATE

The Government have identified five key priority areas:

1. Face coverings must be worn in all shops and retail settings and shopping centres. Retail staff will also be required to wear them unless there is a partition in place or there is a space of 2 metres between them and customers.

2. Pubs, bars, hotel bars, nightclubs and casinos will remain closed until 10 August. Pubs currently serving food can remain open.

3. Social visits to people's homes should be limited to a max of ten people from no more than four different households.

4. Current restrictions of 50 people in indoor gatherings, 200 at outdoor gatherings is being extended until 10 August.

5. It is continuing to advise against all non-essential travel.

The Government will publish a green list of countries on 20 July.

It's a decision taken by the government of the Republic for all of that jurisdiction.

I wish they would stop all the tourist coming into the country, my local area is full of them. One village had to close yesterday because it was full of Americans.

Getting really tired of the Govt and their ‘flouncing’ of their own rules!....

We couldn’t go outside a 2km radius of our house but yet they allowed people to be flown in to the country to pick fruit!? WOW

Now, We can’t take leave and get permission to leave the state (job won’t allow it) but yet flights are coming in to the country with American tourists!

This is outrageous

We were sent an email in work advising no international travel with a very subtle hint if we did travel would affect promotions in the future.

Some have been warned that if they travel outside the country without permission then they will have to isolate for a further 14 days on return at their own expense and leave!

We were told same, at moment I'm doing 3-4 shifts in office and two at home. Had considered going abroad Before end of year thinking I could work from home and self isolate after returning.

Only a question of time until we have an American tourist imported cluster. Why do we have to learn the hard way until something is done to prevent people coming in from high risk countries?

It's a slap in the face for every pub owner hoping to open up again.

I'm not sure how long it may last, but as for what you are saying I have friends that recently went to a gastro pub, they were (the pub) very flexible with the rules. 50 odd pints consumed by 3 and the obligatory food hardly touched. Long story short their conclusion the next day . Alcohol and social distancing is impossible

I can't get my head around this travel advisory at all while we are being discouraged on foreign travel we let tourists in from high risk areas. There's a touch deja vue here about Italian travel last feb/ march before long we will be treating american cases here when we have abided by the rules to flatten the curve. I think Leo needs to get off the America is great potty and declare it a no travel area for ireland meaning no travel either way unless there is a proper enforced isolation on travellers. The rest of europe has stopped americans entering so can we, also the back door in the north needs to be shut firmly either at the northern ports or the border

Our restaurants and beaches are open, even some pubs. You'll find that most European countries haven't yet reopened nightclubs, have back paddled on opening up and/or have introduced new regulations on bars ie Mallorca just closed down again their drinking mile, mandatory facemask in swiss nightclubs etc.

I have family in three different EU countries so i know exactly what i am talking about and what's happening, you can't compare Spain with so many numbers of infected people and Switzerland, they are living in 23th century comparing to Ireland or many other EU countries
