Not saying it applies to everyone. But my personal experience about guys I know who have said this to me before is that they need to break up people into nice guys or assholes (they are never the assholes).
This usually happens because they have either had a break up or a lack of recent success with the opposite sex.
Nothing in life is usually that simple. Its kind of like a coping mechinisom

"Come on now be honest don't lie "
Oh ffs. Posts like this reek of r/niceguys. "Why do women always go for assholes, I'm right here, I've been so nice to you, why won't you fuck me?"
I read a tweet before, something along the lines of "A self-described nice guy complaining about women not dating him is like giving out to a hungry person who doesn't want to eat a hot dog off the street."
Men aren't divided into assholes and gentlemen. Though I find the ones who separate them in those terms to be more on the asshole side myself |

My understanding of it is that the term 'women love bad boys' is taken too literally. It doesn't mean women love dickheads, it just means if you're being the nice guy and acting like her friend, she more than likely will see you as a friend.
The so called 'bad boy' is the one who doesn't suck up to her and tell her everything she wants to hear. He challenges her. He makes her want to be around him, but let's her know that he has his own thing going on. He values himself and his time. He won't be a pushover.
But when he's with her, he has the fine balance of gentleman/devil
At least that's what I gathered from being the only fella in my class in college. 3 years of conversations with my females classmates, young and less young |

From my limited experience, I overstand the expression to mean that they like men to treat them with respect and appreciate their quality traits, but want you to ride them knowing that they're not made of porcelain. As always, everything in moderation, much like they don't always need a bad guy. |

Jeez...it's all an individual thing ... what seems an asshole to one might seem a gent to another ..it totally depends on how someone views things ...like ,what criteria do you need to be considered an asshole ..a person's behaviour might be accepted by someone ..so that don't make them an asshole in their eyes .. whereas it mightened be accepted by a different person so that would make them an asshole in their eyes ...so all l could say on the subject is stay the f**k away from assholes if you consider them to be one .. |

I like to engage with men who are gentlemen and treat me with respect and respect my boundaries, yet who are true to themselves.
In the sexual context, I like a man who takes control. For me, that also includes getting rough and leaving the occasional mark on my body. In saying that, in the right context and with a certain type of partner, I equally enjoy to leave my physical mark!
Does getting physically rough make anyone an asshole? Isn't it all about having fun with consenting adults in a safe environment?
I doubt that anyone really likes an asshole, yet we can all be assholes at times, men and women alike. And we all have a different definition of what makes an asshole and we all have different opinions on different people as we are all different with different perspectives and life paths... |

"Most don't I know I most certainly don't.
But then there are plenty of assholes who believe they are gentlemen a lot of men are assholes and a lot of women have terrible taste in men "
(Take 2!)
All women have terrible taste in men but that's only cause all men are assholes.....just like all men love crazy bitches! |
